JayMack23
Okay. I'll admit it right now. I'm not a big baseball fan. Only time I ever catch a baseball game is either the post-season or on SportsCenter. My question is this. I know that July 31st was the MLB Trading deadline, but yet even after July 31 trades still went down. How is this so? Is there a penalty that MLB teams have to pay to trade players after July 31st? Does anyone know the answer, cause I am stumped.
TBGKon
I think to have trades occur after the official deadline, all players must be placed on waivers and if no team claims them, the trade goes through. I dont know for sure, but this is what I think I've heard before.
jkrdevil
July 31st is not actually a trade deadline it is the deadline for non-waiver deals. After July 31st trades can be made provided the the players have been placed on waivers. If they clear waivers they can be traded to anybody if they get claimed by another team then they can only be traded to that team or the players original team can pull him back off of waivers.
