gordie_delini
So I happened to stumble on this - I saw the City of Victoria's (BC) logo when I was there in January:http://www.victoria.ca/common/index.shtmlThen, searching for a logo at brandsoftheworld.com I came across this designer's work:So, is it just me, or do other people see the similarities? Which one came first, and is there a copyright issue?
Cyclopsis Joe
Well..DTNA is in San Fran according to my Google Wizardry. Victoria is in British Columbia. Therefore, Victoria is stealing. My logic? I hate Canada.Ok seriously, I absolutely think that there is a case for copyright here. However, there's no way (that I know of) to check which came first. I don't speak for democrats, democrats don't speak for me.
quantum
Trademark protection is generally on a country by country application basis. Protection for the image must be filed in each country, unless the country is part of a special agreement. It is possible that they can be the same image without infringing copyright. rmered
When Burger King wanted to move into Australia in the early 70's they couldn't because someone else had registered the name and logo as his own.(The pre-cursor to cyber squatters was apparently logo-squatters)Not to be out-done, Burger King opened up as Hungry Jacks. So I would think a registered logo or name doesn't automatically mean that logo is registered around the world. So even though we might think one is derived from the other, I don't there'd be too much grief for the Canadians Oh, and I've got a site.Footy Jumpers Dot Com
