officeglenn
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings hosted a news conference today to unveil their special third jersey that they'll be wearing for their upcoming Military Appreciation Night Saturday January 17th against the Chilliwack Bruins. The sweater will be a unique collector's item that will only be worn once by the hockey club and auctioned off after the game to raise money for the Edmonton Garrison's Military Family Resource Centre. The club hosted a similar post-game auction on the concourse for last season's Rodeo Kings' jerseys that raised over $24,000 for the Edmonton Rodeo Cowboy Benevolent Foundation. The sweaters feature the same camouflage pattern found on Canadian Soldiers uniforms as well as a special shoulder patch paying tribute to the 3 branches of the Canadian Military. The inscription 'January 2009' is also found on the back collar of the jersey with the Oil Kings crown displayed prominently on the front. The game on the 17th will be tribute to all Canadian Military and the Edmonton Garrison has chosen to highlight 1 Combat Engineer Regiment.I dig the attention to detail in using the same camo pattern as is on soldiers' uniforms. My only quibble is that the Oil Kings' logo is a bit too big on the front.
scottyvoodoo
I like both the jerseys and the idea. Although I agree with Glenn that the logo is too big. Excellent attention to detail with the camo, and the shoulder patches.
