Not to say thats a bad idea because I like the idea of what you are trying to come up with. I think that if you were to add a few textures above and below the different elements, they could become a lot better. I'm not sure what program you are using, but if would like I can e-mail you a few photoshop files that I have of my wallpapers so you can get the idea.
