troy_3223
Where do you go for basic sports info? I've been using Sportsline.com for years, but it's really going downhill fast. All I am looking for is basic stuff - standings, stats, simple analysis. I would normally expect that a website would automatically have, for example, a list of NHL free agents once the offseason started, and have that list easily located from the front page. I would normally expect that a website would have professionally written analysis, rather than sending me to a third-party site where the analysis is user-generated and usually consisting of slide-shows. I am refraining from going further into how Sportsline is really starting to suck because at the mere mention of Larry Dobrow, I can easily turn a three sentence rant into a four page screeding manifesto. I should mention that I don't need a website to give me trade rumors or anything like that (it would be nice, but I've found places to dig for that stuff.) Punch
If you want standings, stats, and news just go to the different sports leagues websites.... NHL.com, NBA.com, MLB.com, NFL.com. I'm pretty sure there are trade rumor pages and basically anything you need to know about each sport. Also - -foxsports.com-yahoosports.com-espn.com
CC97
If I want pure sports news, scores, standings, boxscores I use http://www.espn.com (but switch to http://www.tsn.ca for hockey news)Also I'll give a glance to Google News Sports section, which is basically a mash-up of every news site on the Internet -- http://news.google.com/news/section?pz=1&cf=all&topic=s&ict=lnIf I want rumours I'll use http://www.mlbtraderumors.com (baseball only, obviously), I'll also use http://www.prosportsdaily.com sometimes for the other sports. In terms of historical stats I love http://www.baseball-reference.com, http://www.hockeydb.com, http://www.basketball-reference.com, http://www.hockey-reference.com, and http://www.retrosheet.org (historical baseball boxscores). That's pretty much my regular rotation for sports news and information. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram

troy_3223
Thanks for the replies. Don't have as much time for staring into the internets now with a three-year-old running amok. The league sites are ok, but difficult when you're reading news stories where the league would definitely try to spin it a certain way (like the Coyotes relocation fiasco). ESPN and TSN are both looking good. I pretty much just follow baseball and hockey, so I'll stick with TSN for a while. All the pertinent info is right there on the main page. Nothing to sift through. Now I will have more time for sifting through the message boards here.
