mr71
I saw at Champs Sports today a Majestic burgundy Phillies jersey with the white P logo on the left chest. Did the Phillies ever wear this?

sj32
Yes - that is a 1979 "Saturday Special". The Phillies wore maroon jerseys (tops and pants) with a white "P", white numbers and lettering and white stripes down the sleeves and sides. They were worn at home on Saturdays, although I'm not sure they lasted the year.
mr71
It's not a bad top but the all burgundy look doesn't do it for me. Looks like a blood clot. The white pinstripe pants would have been okay to wear with it.
STL FANATIC
Yes, that looks terrible. In fact it reminds me of another terrible uniform...the Red Wings'... JUSTIN STRIEBEL | PORTFOLIO | RESUME | CONTACT
mjrbaseball
The Phillies wore their all-burgundy "Saturday Specials" a grand total of one ... that's 1 ... Saturday. No one liked them, so they were mothballed.
