pianoknight
Solid read about working with creative types. This absolutely applies to designers and I feel like any client looking to hire someone for professional design work needs to be handed a copy of this before they scout around.https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/5-secrets-working-creatives-becky-blanton?trk=object-title"Scope Creep." BrandMooreArt
Well the adjectives in the first paragraph were less than flattering (and wouldnt describe any professional designer i know) but the 5 pieces of advice are good. pianoknight
Well the adjectives in the first paragraph were less than flattering (and wouldnt describe any professional designer i know) but the 5 pieces of advice are good.Could that first paragraph be any more insulting?I actually agree with their statements. Although I barely dabble in some football concepts now and again, I'm a 25-year music veteran and feel the "creative" label applies to me well in that regard. They're writing from the perspective of the typical business executive's experience, and for the most part, it's accurate. What they don't elaborate on is that most business people are completely coin-operated and generally start shopping for a creative by posting a Craigslist ad or asking if anybody's nephew "knows photoshop" or "does music." When they start from that limited (and completely unprofessional) point of view, it's understandable why they view creatives as flaky, tempermental and irresponsible. It's actually their own fault - but they fail to realize it. They're not contacting a professional designer - such as either of the two gentlemen I've quoted above - they're contacting those hacks who troll the Sportslogo forums and steal logos in order to make $50 off tshirts from Custom Ink.In my world, they're not contacting a professional musician for original, fully-orchestrated soundtracks - they're contacting YouTube idiots who "remix" poptunes using freeware and a sampled Skrillex bass drop. I took no offense to the comments for those reasons. 5th in NAT. TITLES | 2nd in CONF.
