  1. If the Skate is going to be worn in the playoffs, it likely means a switch to it full-time is on the horizon . They finally got their uniforms right when they removed the arched wordmark and now they want to ditch, or at least minimize, one of the league's best colour schemes for something that looked dated in 1994... This team is never going to have a proper identity.
  2. Although I wholeheartedly disagree with your opinion, I definitely admire your courage to post it.
  3. Replacing the current logo with the Fin would be throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I agree the logo is in dire need of an update but the fin is not strong enough to be their primary logo. It's the perfect shoulder patch. What they should do is update their original logo... Make the Shark more realistic, give it the teal highlights of the current logo and fix the hockey stick. It's hilarious that both versions of that logo got the stick so wrong.
  4. The striping is what will make or break this design... Hopefully it has more in common with their 2007-2017 alternate than their "stealth jersey." That re-coloured Northern California shoulder patch looks great. Hopefully it's on both shoulders.
  5. Looks like something you'd find on a happy meal toy.
  6. Those Stars jerseys were just abysmal. Thin piping where stripes should be and little consistency between the home and road. Green was the most prominent colour on the white jersey while being completely absent on the black version. Double outlined numbers on one, triple outlines on the other. In recent years some interesting prototypes have emerged on Ebay... You've got the home version with a proper logo on the front (big improvement)... ...and an earlier version of the alternate, that eventually became the road, with single outlined numbers
  7. It was certainly looking dated even before Reebok ruined their jerseys... Lightening the green to what they have now was definitely the right move. Maybe they could make an alternate based off the cup jerseys but with the new shade of green and with the gold retained. I love the Stars current uniforms in a vacuum but it's disheartening how far removed they are from the look associated with the franchise's pinnacle. Having an alternate with some gold would go a long way to fix that and bridge the gap between the two era's... Whatever they decide to do, those Skyline Green monstrosities have to go. They looked dated the second they were released and are not fit for a pro team IMO.
  8. I'm surprised no one is complaining about the Adidas triple stripes down the sleeves.
  9. I don't know if I'd quite call it a modern classic (the way the logo lines up with the star template is kind of awkward) but it is perplexing how the team completely ignores the design that coincided with their peak. It would certainly make a better alternate than what they use now.
  10. These are great but "classic" seems like a bit of a stretch. Even with 90's nostalgia at its peak.
  11. Is any All Star Game jersey really revered as a classic? Minnesota's get a lot of praise but I don't think anyone would call either of them a classic design. Maybe the Orange and Black ones from the early 90's?
  12. The logo or the jersey? It's because the Reebok Edge jerseys were originally designed to be tucked in. Fortunately, many owners rebelled including Peter Karmanos who insisted the Hurricanes retain their warning flag striping.
  13. I think someone from 2004 would have more design sense. Look at the All Star jerseys from that year.
  14. They should have had their privileges permanently revoked after that reversible alternate. If there was ever a jersey to sum up everything wrong with hockey design in the 2020's, it's that. Miraculously, these All Star jerseys are even worse.
  15. The logo's are still waaay too big. The star should be about the size of the NHL shield. The colours are passable.
  16. Is the game sponsored by Carl's Junior? I never thought there would be an All Star set that would make these look decent by comparison... but here we are. Just awful.
  17. The colour scheme alone makes it an improvement over their current logo but I agree with your criticisms. The Lightning have never had a good logo but they did have a fantastic colour scheme which is why the current identity is so frustrating. He did and it shows. But again, the colour scheme still makes it an improvement over the current logo.
  18. Arguable points for sure. The Lightning have never had a logo that could be considered great. The only thing their first two logos had going for them was the colours. I once thought their original logo could look okay if they dropped the off-kilter and wholly unnecessary "Lightning" text but that just makes it even more bland. Maybe they should go back to the drawing board entirely and come up with something that is more than a Bolt in circle... But they really need to bring back silver and make black more prominent.
  19. What was wrong with this? Not saying it's perfect but it's miles better than what they're using.
  20. That font looks a lot better italicized. Some of the Serif's look a little wonky but with some slight adjustments, it could look great.
  21. Making the perfect Lightning set is as simple as putting the 2007-11 logo on the original striping template with their original shade of (Hawaiian) blue.
  22. All the instances of black touching blue muddy things up a bit too much. If you got rid of the yoke and extended black all the way to the cuff on the sleeve stripes you'd have something. The 2007-2011 logo would be a good fit for that template.
  23. Maybe it's just the lighting but those silver numbers look really cool in this photo! What do the Lightning have against silver these days anyways? Their original scheme was so original and represented their namesake perfectly. As Admiral said about the Sharks, it did all the heavy lifting on an otherwise conservative design.
