With 2 of the possible 3 "alternate" games being accounted for with the legacy uniforms my guess is the Jets black helmet and uniforms are worn on Thursday night week 17 in Cleveland who will be in all white. Week 9 prime time at Home against the Chargers is the other possibility. Just speculation on my part though.

Teams are allowed 2 alternates so this does not been the all brown is gone, but also doesn't mean it will be worn this year either. I think it is 3 alternate uniform games per season and the fact they announced 3 throwbacks likely means no all brown this season but going forward that can change.

Just b/c a regular uniform was used to take the shadow photo does not mean it isn't a teaser for something new. And, as someone has pointed out previously, the new template is soooo conducive to bringing back the "batman" jerseys that it's almost a no-brainer, or at least very likely someone in Pittsburgh realized it and made the recommendation.

I don’t think this template would work as well as some think. While the front of the new Nike Template is great for that “Batman” jersey just given current uniform design and requirements the back would be difficult to pull off well. When those uniforms were used in the 60s player names wear not on the back of the jersey in the NFL and the chevron like yoke came to a point on the back as well. That design would be difficult on any modern template especially now with names needed to be accounted for as well.

Actually the NFL changed things several years back regarding "alternate" jerseys. Teams are allowed two "alternates" outside of their standard white and standard "color". Those 2 can be any combination of Throwback, Alternate or "Color Rush".
The only team with no alternate jersey currently is the Chiefs. The Dolphins and 49ers have 2 throwbacks and the Chargers have 2 Color Rush.
For 2023 these are what each team has listed as possible options (some won't be worn) outside their standard white and color.
Bears - Throwback, Orange Alternate
Bengals - White Color Rush, Orange Alternate
Bills - Red Color Rush, White standing buffalo throwbackBroncos - Orange Color Rush, Navy Alternate
Browns - Brown Color Rush, Throwback
Buccaneers - Pewter Color Rush, Creamsicle ThrowbackCardinals - Black Color Rush
Chargers - Royal Color Rush, Navy Color Rush
Chiefs - NoneColts - Throwback
Commanders - Black Color Rush
Cowboys - White Color Rush, Throwback
Dolphins - Aqua Throwback, White ThrowbackEagles - Throwback, Black Alternate

I don't think some prototype that never saw the field is what will happen with Tampa. If they stay true to the combos used in the past they have 5 possible options.

Schedule is out so might as well get this up and running. Initial combos will be TBD unless previously announced or only one option is possible and will be updated as needed. Please give me at least 24 hours from the completion of the game or a complete uniform announcement to make any corrections as I am normally not at a computer to make changes during the game itself and I do have other things going on. Have not heard anything specific on the Vikings but my sources have said the Jets will be going with white lids and for a Namath Era "tribute".
