Oilers possibly releasing a new jersey next week... Looking at the pictures though and seeing who they were posted by (ICE District Authentic, the team's official store), I have a feeling that they are rereleasing the original Todd McFarlane jersey as well as the home jersey from the 2006 finals for fans to purchase. Don't think we will see them on the ice.

Ireland hat a retail jersey sponsor since the the end of the 90s with "Eircom" and then "3" I think.

I get it for the Football Associations/Federations financially, but as a fan, this just is terrible.

Canada soccer might soon not have a choice to be picky,  their finances are reportedly extremely bad. Dire situation.

So bad in fact that the better Canada does on the pitch, the more dire the financial situation becomes because of player bonuses for performance. Soccer Canada really screwed themselves with the Canada Soccer Business thing.

  4. I  sit on my executive committee for my current rugby club and during our meeting last night, it was brought to our attention that the Edmonton Rugby Union (ERU) will be doing an evaluation on every club's logo to see if it is offensive. What brought on this task? Well, one of the clubs here in Edmonton, the Nor'Westers Athletic Association (and my former club) has their 50th anniversary this season. They had asked the ERU board if they could put the ERU's logo on their anniversary kit for the upcoming season. The question brought on accusations that the NWAA logo is highly offensive and some people said that "their company won't sponsor the club because of their offensive logo". Tears were also shed about this logo and how offensive it is.  All this information was told to my club's executive committee by our club's rep to the ERU who was at this meeting and witnessed it.  I may be biased, but I don't see anything wrong with the logo and how it can be offensive (Note that the reasons why it was considered offensive were not shared). So I pose the question to the internet, is the Nor'Westers Athletic Association logo offensive? If you feel that it is, please explain. I'm genuinely curious to hear the reasons.

    Current NWAA logo:

Club's explanation on where it got it's name:

"The club takes its name from the culturally diverse group of entrepreneurs who formed the North West Company in 1779 which were known as the Nor'Westers. Men such as Sir Alexander Mackenzie and their guides, trapped and traded for furs while exploring and charting the Canadian Northwest establishing forts and the first settlements in Alberta over two hundred years ago. Many of these individuals formed the fur brigades (convoys of canoes and boats) that annually transported furs and goods by canoe across the country.

Our crest honours the fur-hatted trader/explorers and their indigenous guides that travelled on a canoe through forests and mountains on a Northwest River. The crest is symbolic that to succeed you must work together."

  5. Pacific FC have released their primary kit:

On Wednesday, Pacific FC unveiled their 2024 primary kit, otherwise known as ‘The Trident Territory Kit’.

The new kit features Pacific FC’s iconic purple colours, while heavily featuring the Trident emblem. It is inspired by the Vancouver Island community, and the Island spirit for which its locals are known.

The Trident Territory kit is made with Macron’s ECO Fabric – a thread that is 100 per cent PET recycled polyester and is certified by Global Recycle Standard. Producing this fabric requires less water and less energy, and above all, it gives a second life to waste PET materials that would otherwise be thrown away. For every ECO Fabric shirt produced, around 13 half-litre plastic bottles are recycled.

There seems to already be a Ottawa Black Bears team in Major League Quadball (aka Quidditch). Hmmm....🤔

I don't think anything will happen. It would be like a similar situation here in Edmonton when the Eskimos changed to Elks. There is a rugby league team here called the Elks and I don't think they've changed their name.

  7. All kits have been released. New kit supplier this season with Kappa.

Chicago home, Miami away and seattle away are some of my favourites... Really wish though that Seattle would go back to blue and green instead of black and green.

  8. The relocated Rugby ATL has FINALLY released their name and logo. They were relocated to Los Angeles and will play out of Dignity Health Sports Park. They will be known as Rugby FC Los Angeles, RFCLA for short. Here is their logo:

I guess this season the MLR is having each individual team release their kits... which I find odd seeing as they made a league wide switch to Kappa.

  9. World Juniors have started for the lower divisions and with that, some new jerseys. Korea has updated their ones to go inline with the new Nike templates from last season:

Kazakhstan has also updated to the new template (and will be in the top division next year):

  10. I think back in the late 90's early 2000's, the Flyers wore their black alternates in the playoffs before they made them their permanent home jersey.  As well, the Canucks started the 2007 playoffs in their regular jerseys but switched to their alternates (the blue stick in rink) for game 7 vs. Dallas and stuck with them for the 5 games against Anaheim... Actually I think that might be the only time a team switched jerseys mid playoffs.

  11. It's been a pretty bad week for the MLR. First, the Toronto Arrows fold as they could not keep financing after the passing of their owner last season. Then the New York Ironworkers fold for financial reasons. Now there is talk that the new Los Angeles based team (formerly Rugby ATL) won't be playing.

Having said all that, the league announced that Kappa will be their new league wide kit provider. I guess teams will be releasing their own kits as the weeks go on and now we have the first.

    New England Free Jacks:

I personally prefer last season's kit as it reminded me a lot of my old high school team's kit when I played... but so far, not a bad start for Kappa.

"I wish I had a better update. Since Friday, I have called GoDaddy 18 times to try to get the website back up and running. So far, those 18 calls have gone precisely nowhere. It's gotten to the point where I have screamed at the top of my lungs at least two times and used some colorful language on at least three other occasions. Do know that I'm working very diligently to get the site back online."

    Its back up and running.
