  1. I think so, does your email address start with a ds?
  2. https://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/115036-ccslc-board-technical-issues/?do=findComment&comment=3197331
  3. Not sure if it's a "everyone gets it or no one gets it" feature or if you can toggle it based on your own tastes, if you guys really don't like it I can disable
  4. You're both set up now, thanks!
  5. Ad-Free Experience Now Available Please read the below before signing up, thanks! So, as you all know, the ads have been necessary because they pay for the server and software fees. What you may not know is that the earnings from the ads are based entirely on the amount of times any of these ads load, they don't pay a flat monthly fee, if you're browsing 100 pages per day this means you have been generating 100 pages worth of ad earnings because you're loading that many ads (thank you). However, there's a downside to that, the monthly server fees are ALSO affected by how many page loads there are. If we remove ads from every one of your page loads this improves your experience considerably, but it results in the loss of all of those ad earnings and does not change the fact that those pageload-affected server costs remain the same. Simply put, without the ad earnings, your use of the site costs me money. In an attempt to offset that loss as much as possible, I am now offering an option in which you can contribute each month approximately what your usual ad earnings would have been in exchange for removing ads from your account while browsing the forums. This price I've set this at is basically the minimum that I think we can make this work, I wanted to make sure it was priced at a point that you'd realistically consider signing up for the option -- there is a voluntary option when signing up to increase what you pay if you would like to contribute more, which obviously will be extremely appreciated but note that it is totally unnecessary. Things to know: This is a recurring monthly fee which will be charged and handled by Patreon The ads will only be removed from the CCSLC, you will still see ads on the logos site and the news section (I'd love to offer tiered options to remove ads from all three but I'm just not sure it's technically possible to do so! I have been discussing this possibility with people smarter than me, stay tuned) Because Patreon and the board software can't communicate with each other, if your Patreon email address or name doesn't match what you use on the boards, I'll need you to let me know you signed up and what information you used so I can get you all set up here. Implementing your ad-free experience is being done manually, one user at a time, by me and me alone, so there will be a delay between the time you signed up and when your ads are removed - my goal is to keep this delay to just a few minutes but if you sign up while I'm sleeping or driving or taking my kids to school you may have to wait a wee bit longer. You can sign up using the Patreon link below, thank you all for your patience and your support! https://www.patreon.com/sportslogos
  6. I can switch this, like I said in my previous post I had to rebuild the skin so I might have missed a few little things like this, so please let me know if there are others.
  7. Oooooookay, I think I've fixed all the issues with the theme, had to rebuild it and it looks pretty good on my end but this thing is buggy as all hell so I wouldn't be surprised if others are seeing something completely different. As I alluded to earlier in this thread, I have been working on an ad-free option and will hopefully be able to launch that very shortly. Worked wonderfully in tests!
  8. I hear you all. Ad-free option in the works. Stay Tuned. UPDATE, it's ready!
  9. We were forced into a upgrade by those who run the forum software, unfortunately the new version of the forum was incompatable with our skin (or theme) of preference so there's a few bugs we're working out... please feel free to post what broken things you find here so we can fix 'em.
  10. None of the spammy ads are intentional, you should never ever see anything redirect or pop over content (with the exception of the floater at the bottom, which shouldn't ever take over any part of the screen that you'd be actively reading). I deal only with reputable ad networks who, unfortunately, can get taken advantage of by bad advertisers -- they try to weed them out as soon as they can but unless you report their problem ads to that url shared earlier in this thread there's really not much we can do about it. In the millions of ads served on this site every month, there's maybe a few hundred that are problems, overall that's a pretty damn good ratio but it can still annoying as hell when you're one of the unlucky ones to get hit with one. Sohiosportsfreak appears to be an exception, you're getting so many ads that you're unable to browse the site? My hunch is that the issue may lie on the end of your phone/browser/IP, perhaps you've got some sort of malware or adware installed? I'm not hearing about a similar issue from anyone else, if the ads were so bad that most users couldn't browse the site I'd be flooded with complaints. Ad Blockers, while possibly bandaiding the problem for you, are not cool. Running this site costs me over a thousand dollars every single month in server fees alone, the *only* way I'm recouping *any* of those costs is from the ads on the site. You running an ad blocker while browsing the site is similar to going into a store, reading all the magazines, and then grabbing one with you as you take off out the door. I doubt that you intentionally meant this but it's essentially what you're doing. Look into the possibility of adware/malware. The amount of invasive ads I've been pitched with a promise of "big big money!" over the years would surprise you, I've rejected every single one of them because I do not want this place to be like some of those other forums. The bad ad slots that legitimately sneak through (like the one that took over the entire border of the site in early November -- I was pitched that it would be a quick 1-2 second ad that appeared off to the sides, away from content then disappear... they were wrong), the mods will tell you how quick I was to kill off once we saw what it did. I have no tolerance for obtrusive ads, regardless of the offer that accompanies them.
  11. Thank you, a few things first, need to nail down whether the software even allows such a plan, also determining exactly what the cost would be.
  12. Thank you. I'm sending this to the ad company now
  13. Kinda defeats the purpose from my point of view
  14. Would some members consider paying an annual fee in exchange for an ad-free experience? Like the option you'd see on an app or something
  15. You should definitely not be seeing the Amazon spinning ad; this was not an advertisement that we put on the site, nor should you ever see any popup ads or redirects. Our old ad network was constantly getting hijacked (as you saw with those popups, etc.) so we bailed on them and signed up with these new guys. If you keep seeing these, screencap it and remember where you were on the site when it happened, then post it to here. The new ad network does add the floating ad on the bottom of the screen.
  16. To those expressing frustration, I get it, from your perspective it seems like I'm intentionally ignoring or being rude. Of course it's not at all like that; I'm simply just buried under all this stuff... keep in mind that I'm just one person, I can get a few hundred messages a day (in between being a stay-at-home father of two young kids) from both readers and the actual teams/leagues themselves about updating or correcting the logos site, about making sure we cover a particular news item, and usually there's someone upset they were banned or suspended from these forums. If it's a slow news day I can get to maybe 10% of these each day? Things will get missed, often... I'm sorry that happens, I want to cover everything, I want to be as accurate and up-to-date as possible. Reality says otherwise and the reality is most days I'm exhausted by the end. I can only do so much, I can't afford to hire anyone. So if you're wondering, the best chance to get my attention these days is through a Twitter DM (@sportslogosnet); I tend to check that and interact there more often than anywhere else, if I'm terribly busy I will usually just focus on what interests me the most first - baseball, hockey will get priority because I personally enjoy baseball and hockey; if it's a slow day and I'm looking for stuff to do then I'll start looking for corrections of other things in my DMs. It could take days, weeks, months... I've had many try for years. I'm not happy that it happens like that, it makes me look bad, but I'm not sure what else to do.
  17. The NCAA had rules to allow their logos on our site; we had to follow them.
  18. It's in the breadcrumbs now up near the top, it's got a little picture of a house next to it.
  19. The header logo used to go back to the main site but I received many requests to have it point to the forum index instead. I'll try to wedge a link back to the main site in the breadcrumbs up top
  20. Apologies for the auto audio ads, I contacted the ad network and had them remove them and any future from my rotation. Unfortunately they just throw them in there without asking. If you guys ever see another ad like this appear anywhere on the site please message me, email or DM on Twitter is quickest way to get my attention.
  21. I've completed the board upgrade, hopefully this solves the issue many of you were having. If not, let us know and I'll contact the company who makes the forum software directly about it.
