This must be the uniform for the alumni team: the Arkansas State Silver Foxes. 😂

I’d join but I don’t have silver hair because my hair just went away entirely.

As someone who hates the University of Florida, I have to admit that is a great looking uniform and helmet. Way better than their current set.

This is the perfect site for people like us. We can marvel at the wonders of our most hated rivals' uniforms while simultaneously hating them to their very core because they're evil cheaters or whatever.

The bottom line did serve a purpose in the 90s (I think that is when it was introduced) but, like you said, I have the internet and/or apps for that now right in the palm of my hand.

The only real purpose is that it acts as a huge Disney ad at this point.

One of the things that really bugged me with the new bottom line is that when they first introduced it, the ad space on the right was directly below the score bug and they were almost identical in size. So I wanted them to move the score bug into that slot so that the score would always be visible, even during a commercial break like the rest of the bottom line. Instead, they made a new score bug that's probably 2/3 the height of the gigantic bottom line, stuck the bug on top of that, and made it the width of the screen so that their stupid graphics take up even more room!

Here's a blurry photo I just took. Look how much empty space there is. There is no point in this thing being this big. It serves no purpose. As you mention, it was cool in the 90s, but it just isn't necessary anymore, and certainly didn't need to become bigger.

ESPN's bottom is way too big, but I don't mind have the scores at the bottom. If I'm watching a game, I'm not looking at my phone, I'm watching the game.

If you watch college football, you will look at your phone or something because the commercial breaks are lengthy and numerous. Flipping channels like a madman is the only way to watch this wretched sport.

Also, if I edit in a quote after the fact does it send a notification to that person?

  3. I absolutely loathe ESPN's bottom line.

    • It's gigantic
    • It's mostly empty
    • The right side is just there for ads
      • Those ads are just other Disney-owned things like Star Wars
      • Or it's sports stuff that is advertised constantly
    • A giant chunk of the left side is dedicated to telling you which channel you're on
    • Scores and news don't need a bottom line because I have the internet which tells me all of that, plus which channel the games are on
    • "Score alerts" make the whole damn thing turn yellow, which of course makes you think that a flag has been thrown when watching football

Score bugs are fine when done right, but the bottom line can go to hell, especially ESPN's.

Under Armour has succeeded in making Maryland their Oregon, only for some reason there aren’t a million internet fanboys for whatever crap Maryland spews out each week.

I'm sure part of that is because Oregon has played for two national titles, and Maryland lost by 40 to Northwestern this weekend.

  5. In a battle of pointless black uniforms I guess I'll take Miami over Washington.

Both teams have unique color schemes and don't need black uniforms even though manufacturers have tricked them into thinking that those things will win them recruits. At least Miami maintained some of their colors for their bad black uniforms. Granted that it's easier to make black work with orange than with purple.

Also fun to point out that Arkansas State and Arizona State both went unbeaten in 1975. As someone who pretends to root for Arizona State as an elaborate gimmick, this coincidence is clearly more than a coincidence. Probably some sort of intentional cosmic message about... something?

Watching that Arkansas State / App State game... what are those two bars on Ark State's sleeves suppose to signify? Because, whatever they are, they aren't stripes.

It signifies that we're all equals.

Or that a lack of a designated nerd (a position I'm willing to take) = disaster.

I hate uniform reveal videos so much.

Tonight's Arkansas State at Appalachian State game is going to look like crap. Based on Arkansas State's play this year, it might be fun to watch if you hate defense, but these combos together is offensive.

  8. This has probably been covered already, but it’s really weird seeing ACC stuff on Notre Dame’s field and uniforms. I know they have their scheduling agreement, but I assume this is the first time they’ve done this since they’re playing a full ACC slate this season with everything being wonky, right?

Someone at Temple must be a great negotiator. Despite being a small school with little mainstream success or nationwide brand clout, they’ve been able to get their outfitters to give them a high level of customization for several years now. I’m not sure I love these uniforms, but good on them for standing up for what they think they deserve.

Maybe being in a major city helps. Maybe they have a designated nerd like I’ve said everybody should have.

I swear FAU had a uniform reveal where players came out of the ocean years ago.

Easily my favorite look of the most recent spring leagues. They should also bring in the Memphis Express and Salt Lake Stallions. A proper invasion needs a Booker T (Apollos), and Sean O’Haire and Mike Awesome (Express and Stallions).

So Ole Miss' uniforms have been jacked up for that long???

Whatever...they're still weirdly one of my more favorite looks in CFB, for reasons unknown to mankind. 🤷‍♂️

A lot of us get obsessed with every uniform element being matchy-match, but it's not necessary. Sometimes things work that defy logic. Why is it that the old-school Rams uniforms work despite having white on the pants, but no white on the jersey or helmet? How can Ole Miss look its best with the light blue helmets, red jerseys (with no blue anywhere) and gray pants (the ones with a navy stripe)? Life is just mysterious.

Lafayette has secretly started referring to themselves solely as Louisiana the last few years and I'm no fan of it, personally. There's always been talk about some lawsuit between them, Louisiana-Monroe, and LSU as to why there is no one team that refers to themselves as "Louisiana" for all these years. Don't know the legitimacy of that or the terms, but it sure feels like UL-L has just disregarded it now. I still refer to them with the city name for my own sanity's sake.

The story I heard was that they wanted to change from Southwestern Louisiana to just Louisiana but the politicians got involved and said they couldn't do that unless they used the city name and I think they had to get somebody else on board (Northeast Louisiana becoming Louisiana-Monroe). Maybe for athletics they don't have to adhere to that, similar to schools going by names that aren't quite their actual university names (California State University Fresno going by just Fresno State or University of Arkansas at Little Rock using just Little Rock).

I've usually just called the two Louisiana schools by their city name or their initials, but if I were to just say Louisiana at this point nobody would be confused on which one I mean. On the internet I will often just call them the Cajuns because nobody will be annoyed by that one.

  13. Army wearing black helmets and black pants against Cincinnati in all-black is downright criminal.

I don’t like Georgia’s throwbacks. It’s also always bothered me that they use black numbers on their road jerseys.

Texas Tech’s throwbacks look good. Hate the red facemask though. Needs to be either black or gray.

This kind of garbage cluttter is going to get us stuck with more ads on unis eventually. I fear that someday the have-nots in CFB will start looking like Mexican soccer teams

We of the “have-nots” don’t have that sort of power. It’ll be the powers that be forcing the issue and us peons following. Similar to the Big XII getting us conference title games with less than 12 teams.

Their all maroon had promise but was ruined by the helmet.

That much white looked awful with a jersey that's only maroon and gold. The gold helmet not only matches far better, but also just looks better in general IMO. They've got a solid look, just need to pick the right combos.

Yeah, white facemask and white stripes really screwed up the all-maroon from being as good as it could have been. Change the maroon helmet to have a maroon, gold, or even gray mask, then alter the striping to remove the white in one way or another (three gold, two gold, single gold, no stripes at all, it all would work) and you got something. Granted that gold pants would work better with that combo, but also the set they wore vs. UTSA would work even better.

Here I am watching UT-San Antonio vs Texas State. Both team wear Adidas. Their jersey numbers look tiny compared to Charlotte's.

BTW. UTSA in all white vs TX State in gold/maroon/gold. Not a fan of all white, but it's a good looking game. In double overtime right too.

Texas State especially looked fantastic. The all-maroon look they used against SMU showed promise and that promise was fulfilled this weekend. Too bad they lost after tying the game with an amazing punt return only to miss the PAT and lose in OT. They were at least the better looking team, and that's what really matters on this part of the internet.

The numbers running into the stripes look like something somebody cobbled together really quickly on NCAA TeamBuilder.

I remember watching an A-State game on TV when they were doing work on the stadium. The camera angle was so high up it looked like the blimp view from Montana Football '94.

It's a complicated process, but I'll do my best to explain how it works.

First, the Majestic XII has to decide to open the moderator books. This happens roughly every 23 to 27 months. It's called the "Twenty Three to Twenty Seven Month Quell." A combination of charts, equations, Jim Beam,

Well there's your problem. You need some Arkansas corn-based vodka from Rock Town Distillery.
