  1. Yeah, as a Canes fan I have almost zero confidence in this team to win the Cup. If we have to go against Tampa, Toronto, or Florida we cannot beat them in a 7 game series. We have a talented squad, but our offense is prone to going ice-cold for stretches and those other teams just have way more top-end talent in my opinion.

All that being said I am just happy to watch a competent playoff team. It was a long 9 years during that playoff drought, and I'll take coming up short in the playoffs over not even making them.

  3. Canes are wearing these tonight

And off to a rough start. Down 2-0 to the Sabres after 7 minutes, and this is after they lost to the Sabres in Tuesday with the black pants. One of the worst organizations in sports history outplaying us. This jersey-pant combo doesn’t look bad, but the superstitious fan in me says just stop with the black pants unless it is with the black jersey.

The sublimated warning flags really get me. Both Canes jerseys would look much better if the warning flags were properly red and black. Incredible how the Hurricanes have managed to downgrade nearly every time they change jerseys.

The only upgrade they have made is going from this...

Carolina Hurricanes Uniform Dark Uniform (2013/14-2016/17) - SportsLogos.Net

    to this..

Carolina Hurricanes Uniform Dark Uniform (2017/18-Pres) - Adidas Jersey SportsLogos.Net

But yeah besides that, I agree. Everything else has been a downgrade.

  5. Very gross move from my favorite team in all of sports. I know every team has bad people, but these allegations aren't someone getting into a drunken brawl at the bar or possessing illegal drugs at a traffic stop. This man was methodical, calculated, and predatory with his actions towards other human beings - then repeated them at least 22 times. To trade all the draft capital AND commit all that money to acquire him so shortly after his allegations is very upsetting.

So instead of the USFL giving Johnny Manziel or even Colin Kapernick another shot, they draft Paxton Lynch, who became the last pick in the 12th round of the USFL Draft in Day One.

My rec league flag football team wouldn't even want Manziel. He is a crap football player and an even worse human being.

  7. Oddly enough I am cheering for the Bengals. I have a few close friends from college that are Bengals fans and we would always bond over our hate for the Steelers. It made me realize our fanbases had a lot in common, and they deserve to win it all after the heartache they have endured. My tune might change if they win it all and become the dominate team in the division for the next 4-5 years, but I would be happy for my friends to experience at least one Super Bowl victory.

That's about as journeyman as journeyman gets.

How many times do you think has he had to break an apartment lease?

I feel like ESPN grossly misread how their audience feels about Ben Roethlisberger. That was a slobberfest not owed to one of the worst people in the history of professional sports. The only people who like him are the Worst People Alive and even then most Steelers fans I know are so tired of his whole deal that they are thrilled to move on.

Imagine being in the stands last night like I was, surrounded by them. I'm not going to pretend the Browns don't have some POS players on their roster - every team does. But I have NEVER seen a city embrace such a well-documented POS in my life. It was so surreal sitting there seeing people going bonkers when he took the field during player intros, holding "We Love You Ben" signs, chanting his name, and almost everyone in the stands wearing his jersey. I saw countless little girls wearing his jersey too which is so bizarre to me - if you are a father could you imagine buying your 8-year old daughter a jersey of that man? Even one of my buddies who is a Steelers fan said "Yeah, he is probably guilty of all that stuff. But he got us two Super Bowls, so I've gotta be there for his last game and wear my 7 jersey."

Sorry, part of me is venting from last night and part of me is in awe of how the people in this city perceive their QB.

Can confirm I am happier than a mug. Went to the game with my wife and parents* It was quite thrilling and it's easily the biggest win in the history of that stadium. I don't think any long time Bengals fan in that building thought they'd win, especially not down two touchdowns throughout the first half. Historically, the Bengals never win that game. The Bengals lay an egg in that game and then make us wait a week, make us sweat through a rivalry game in Cleveland, and then lose that too. But these new kids are special and different than Bengals teams of the past. They were supposed to finish last, go 0-6 in the AFC North, and they just won one of the toughest divisions. They're a year early. I'd like to end the playoff win drought, obviously, but I feel good about the future even if they don't.

It was really great sharing that with my family. My wife is a bit of a crier and unquestionably a bigger Bengals fan than I am and she was sobbing. I lost my voice and my back is sore and I probably have omicron thanks to hugging the random college bros next to me that I made friends with during the game. All worth it.

*funny enough the first Bengals game that my dad and I went to at Paul Brown Stadium was against the 9-0 Priest Holmes, Dante Hall, Trent Green Chiefs in 2003 and the Bengals upset them then too so I had a weird feeling about this one walking in.

Congrats on getting to experience such a special moment. I was selfishly hoping tonight's Browns-Steelers game would mean something, especially since I'll be in attendance. But I have no real hard feelings towards the Bengals. If the Browns can't win the AFC North I would much rather it be the Bengals over the Ravens and Steelers. Best of luck in the playoffs.

    I don't have one.

what, the 2015 Mets winning the NLCS only to immediately prolapse in the WS? the Isles forcing game 7 only to do absolutely nothing in said game 7? Coastal going 12-0 only to get virus'd out of an outright conference title and refball'd out of their undefeated season/first bowl win against Liberty of all schools?

I don't have fond memories of these moments because I can only think about how they led to nothing. the only NY teams allowed to win titles are the ones I didn't pick. even the Tiger-Cats, the CFL team I only tangentially support, haven't won a Grey Cup since I was two years old - and this is a league where the average drought between titles is, what, five years?

so, really, my only options are Melo-era Syracuse's national title I can only barely remember or Coastal's College World Series championship. we're resorting to college baseball here. it's that bad.

This is depressing.  You're still allowed to look back fondly on teams that were fun to watch, or big moments that had you jumping out of your seat cheering. One of the best sport moments of my life was seeing the Browns win a playoff game, against their rival and ending a 17-year winless drought at Heinz Field on top of it all. I obviously wish they could have won the next game too, but I still watch highlights of that wild card game to this day and it still makes me smile. I'll be watching highlights of that game for the rest of my life and reliving how I felt that night.

Yeah but you did miss Chase Claypool acting like a complete knucklehead and doing the whole “move the chains” celebration that dudes do, except he spent 5-10 seconds doing that when the Steelers had no timeouts and desperately needed to spike the ball.

Claypool is proving to be a real sh**head so he fits with the Steelers perfectly. He was just fined 8 grand for trying to rip the helmet off of a Bengals cornerback when the Steelers were down 30 something in the fourth quarter a couple weeks ago.

Claypool has quickly become one of my least favorite Steelers. Remember last year when he said "the Browns are going to get clapped next week so it's all good" on his livestream after the Browns ended their season? I'm not sure what was more embarrassing - the Steelers playoff performance or the fact their butthurt receiver was trash talking the team that just spanked him. He went on to say the Browns were acting classless because they were making fun of Juju's dancing. I personally couldn't care less if Juju wants to pretend he is iCarly and make a million videos of himself dancing, that is his choice. But don't be surprised when the other team mocks you for it - especially after you belittle your opponent to the media with the "Browns is the Browns" comment.

Sorry for ranting, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, Chase Claypool is chump.
