It's like how ionospheric shifts make it so you can hear a New Orleans station clear as a bell in Boston. There must have been a tear in the time-space continuum that actually synced radio to TV.
That's as good an explanation as any.
Side note: Speaking of weird station signal bounces, Cleveland's 50,000 watt clear channel AM used to do this thing on weekends where they'd ask for callers from all over the country. The caller from the furthest away won a coffee mug or something. One night when I was listening, this guy called in from Montana.

Of all the times I've tried syncing to radio, I was successful just once and I'm pretty sure it was pure luck.

Crazy how the Browns could have been 3-0, if their kicker didn't have a brain fart for that extra point.
They still would have lost in OT.

Running a day late this week because (cheap plug alert) we recorded a new episode of Basically a Sports Show* last night.
*Available right here in the Lounge, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and wherever fine podcasting is sold. Follow us on Twitter @BasicallySports
The setup.
- There are no hard, fast rules. There is no formula. The lists are based solely on which games I think looked the best and which games I think looked the worst each week. A team that made the worst list one week could end up on the best list the following week and vice versa. (Looking at you Seattle and Buffalo)
- In my humble opinion, "a good color match up" does not necessarily make for a good uniform match up. That said, there will be weeks when I'll put a game on the best list because I liked the color match up.
- I don't care about socks. (except when I do) Do I wish teams would always go with the best sock for the uniform? Of course, but socks are not something I get too worked up about. (except when I do)
- As always, your opinion (including the idea that nice colors make for a good match up) may differ from mine and that's perfectly fine. All I ask is that we keep the conversation civil. Let's get started.
BEST
1. Chargers - Chiefs: This one checks all the boxes. It has the great uniforms, the "popping colors", all of it. Every game should look this good.
2. Bears - Packers: It takes a helluva uniform match up to knock this one out of the top spot. Anyone who's been following these lists for a while knows that I'm always pimping for the Bears to bring back the white pants with the white jerseys. As much as I like white over navy, the Bears in all white would look even better against certain teams and the Packers are most definitely one of those teams. Another great looking game.
3. Panthers - Giants: Unpopular opinion alert: I think the Panthers all white set is their best look. Never change, Giants...well...maybe bring back the gray pants, but other than that.
4. Seahawks - 49ers: Full disclosure: I think the Seahawks have one of the worst uniforms in the league. That said, there are times when they pick the right ugly uniform to wear in the right setting. The 49ers and a whole lot of sunshine provided that setting. This game looked pretty good, but I gotta be honest, there wasn't a lot of competition this week. Still, not bad....from the proper distance.
5. Patriots - Steelers: Pats decent road look riding the Steelers coattails to a spot on the best list in a down week. The Patriots are so close to having a really great look. The road set is better than the mono-blue home look, but it's still lacking something...or it has too much of something....I don't know. It's one of those I like it, but I don't like it looks. It's really close, though.
WORST
1. Titans - Bills: As long as they keep winning, the Bills are going to keep wearing that awful mono-blue thing. We'll be stuck with it and a team that should be on the best list every week will be down here hanging out with the clown suits of the league. Speaking of clown suits, if the Titans look has even one redeemable quality, I can't find it. Bonus points for wearing the white socks with that disaster, Tennessee. Did you think you weren't ugly enough already? But hey, their shoulders are swords. That's gotta count for something, right? No, it really doesn't.
2. Vikings: Every once in a while, something really stupid will put a game on the worst list that has no business being here. This is one of those times. Remember when I said I don't care about socks except when I do? Well, here we are. This game should have been on the best list, but the Vikings decided to ruin a perfectly good match up by wearing white socks with their all white uniforms and ruined this game in the process. As much as I wanted to get past the socks and focus on the uniforms, I just couldn't do it. It looked ridiculous. The Eagles looked fine.
That's it for this week. Thanks for taking a look. Tune in again next week to see if my position on socks has changed.

Thanks for the kind words and for checking out the lists every week. I do appreciate it.
I wish I could help with the piping question, but I can't remember it either. All I remember is that someone else came up with it and it was funny and perfect. Maybe someone with better recall will come along and solve the mystery.

Not factoring in socks to a uniform equation is a big whiff. It’s literally a mandated element of the overall product.
There’s a clear difference between these two-
Yeah, I still don't care. I'm not interested in your arbitrary rules or the pictures you posted to support them. Your objection is duly noted and ignored. If you have a problem with how I do my lists, I'd suggest you start your own best and worst thread and do your lists your way. Fair enough?

The references to "the sails of Viking longships" in an otherwise classic-inspired uniform is very 2010s. Make the white sleeve stripes straight across and remove the weird number serifs, and that's a timeless look.
Exactly.

Where do you stand on the Chargers wearing white pants versus yellow pants?
I like both looks well enough, but if I were in charge, the Chargers would wear white over yellow and blue over white.

I sincerely don’t know what you mean about the Vikings uniforms being of the time. Do you mind elaborating please?
LA Fakers sums it up pretty well.
3 hours ago, LA Fakers+ LA Snippers said:I'm going to preface this by saying that I don't think the Vikes jerseys are overrated, becuase I don't want there to be any confusion.
However, I think part of the novelty of Minnesota's new uniforms was the fact that they had looked absolutely horrendous beforehand, and since we're (almost) 10 years removed from that, the new-ness of it is starting to wear off. While the set is great, it's definitely starting to reek of mid-2010s, and ten years from now, if Minny is still wearing them, we're gonna look back and be amazed how this set had lasted that long.
Obviously, I don't speak for @infrared41, and I'm not trying to. But the Vikings set is starting to show its age.
That's pretty much what I was trying to say.

Before we get started, major kudos to @BBTV for doing a fantastic job of running the show last season. My original idea for this season was to combine our considerable talents and make this thing a joint venture, but Vet's work schedule won't allow it. So...after a two year hiatus, you're stuck with me again. It's been a while and Vet did things a little differently than I do so let's do a brief recap.
In my humble opinion, "a good color match up" does not necessarily make for a good uniform match up. I decide the lists solely on which games I think looked the best and which games looked the worst. I have no "rules" or "formula" that I use to rank the games. It's all simply a matter of what I liked the best or disliked the most. There will be times where something like sunshine will make a difference, but it's not a hard and fast rule. Finally, I don't care about socks. Do I wish teams would always go with the best sock for the uniform? Of course, but socks are not something I get too worked up about.
As always, your opinion (including the idea that nice colors make for a good match up) may differ from mine and that's perfectly fine. All I ask is that we keep the conversation civil. Let's get started.
BEST
1. 49ers - Bears: Two of the best uniforms in the league. It's a shame they had to face off in such terrible conditions. Every game should look this good. This one is already in the running for match up of the year.
2. Raiders - Chargers: Another great looking game. Still wish the Chargers had gone with black numbers on the helmet, but considering what an upgrade the current look is, I can live with the blue. The Raiders road look is one of my favorites.
3. Steelers - Bengals: Welcome back to being a weekly contender for the best list, Cincinnati. It's been...you know what...you've never been a weekly best list contender while I've been doing this bit so welcome aboard, I guess. It's about time. The Steelers looked great...as usual.
4. Browns - Panthers: Yeah, the Panthers set is really showing its age, but the all white vs. the classic Browns look still works. I know I said I don't care about socks, but bonus points to the Browns for the socks.
5. Bucs - Cowboys: This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the Bucs red over white is their best look. Bring back the "shiny" pewter pants and I might change my mind, but until then, this is the way. Some new guy is going to roll in here and point out all the issues with the Cowboys uniforms and my answer will be what it's always been; I don't care. It's a great look flaws and all.
6. Packers - Vikings: Loved the Vikings set when it debuted, but I've liked it a little less every season since. It's still a really good look, but it's starting to feel a little too much of its time...if that makes any sense. Packers are about as close to perfect as we're going to get.
Honorable Mention:
Colts - Texans: Houston made the right choice by going all white in this game. The blue pants would have been some serious blue overkill. Never change, Colts.
WORST
1. Broncos - Seahawks: Do I really need to explain this one? I will pass along what my friend, Mick, said about the Seahawks uniforms"they look like those green popsicles no one would eat when we were kids." Exactly.
2. Patriots - Dolphins: This match up could look great. Give the Pats some white or silver pants, put the Dolphins in their throwbacks, and this one is vying for the top spot on the best list. Instead we got a high school team taking on a team sponsored by a cruise line. So close, but close doesn't get there in the cutthroat world of uniform aesthetics.
3. Saints - Falcons: Why did the Saints think playing the game in long underwear was a good idea? Good lord, they looked ridiculous. Feel free to mix in a stripe or two somehwere. Atlanta, your uniform situation is best described with a golf analogy. When you decided to update your look, all you had to do to was sink a two inch putt (go with the throwbacks) and you somehow managed to knock that two inch put into a water hazard while setting the course on fire. Throw your entire set into a dumpster and start over again.
That's it for this week. We'll reset and do it all again next week.

I have Apple TV. I got to see #699 then I figured I had a little time before he came up to bat again. Walked back into the room just in time...to see him celebrating #700. But yeah, having the game on Apple TV didn't do MLB fans any favors.
