  1. Seeing the pics of the people wearing Super Bowl rings, I figured I'd post this picture. It's from the 2013 Ohio State Fair. Some former Buckeyes players were working a charity booth at the fair. Former Buckeye DB Donnie Evege noticed my World Series ring and asked me about it. Long story short, we ended up trying on each other's rings. I couldn't get over how huge the 2010 Big Ten Championship ring was (it's the one on my pinky.)

If anyone is wondering, this is Donnie Evege. He wasn't a star player but I remember his time with the team.

  2. anyone have any photos showing other ways to display rings?

This is how I display my one and only ring. :D

It's a fan ring my GF bought me for Christmas a couple years ago. She once asked me if I could have anything I wanted, what would it be? I told her a World Series ring. Long story short, she saw that the Cardinals were selling 2011 rings on their website and bought me one for Christmas. (Has my name on it and everything) It's not a "real" World Series ring, but I wouldn't trade it for 10 "real" rings. That's not to say that I wouldn't love to have a collection like yours - I definitely would - but this one has some serious sentimental value. And it's a real conversation starter. People ask me about it all the time and I love telling them about it. :D

  3. I had not seen this ring before:

    red-sox-lobshots-2013-ring.jpg

Uhhhh......wtf? Never seen that before. Is that picture a hoax by any chance? Has he been getting on of those every year or did Boston just give him one as a gift for some reason??? That is really weird.

I know POTUS usually gets rings, but not the commissioner..... Weird.

At the Baseball Hall of Fame they have a World Series Ring display and every ring has the name of the MLB Commissioner from that season on it. My guess is a ring for HOF display is made every season .

  4. Sorry to sound like a noob but how do I use spoliers? I read the first two pages and found nothing about it, but was too lazy to read the other 20.

If you don't want to type out the code, just click on the Special BB Code icon. It's the icon between the eraser and Font window. To use it, simply highlight the text you want to add a spoiler tag to then click on the icon. A window pops up that says "Special BB Code" just open the drop down menu from that window and click on spoiler. It's much easier than I'm making it sound.

  5. Not sure if you and others know, but Jostens will probably create fan rings again for the heat. This is a new trend that the Packers, Heat, SF Giants have offered over the last few years. If you are on a budget you can get a non-gold and cz version ring, or if you wish to spend some money, you can get a solid gold and diamond ring. I would say these rings are comparable to "B" version rings. And best of all, your last name can be displayed on the shank.

Please note the pictures are not to scale, the Packers ring is about 25% larger than the Giants ring.

I have a Cardinals World Series ring like that.

  6. So I'm trying to update (or at least polish) my profile, the one people see when posting. Recently, I got awarded the "Longest Post of the Day" for a post on the Gear Grinder section (Lounge), and I want to put a link under my signature to direct to my posting which got me that award, just like other people have URL link redirects for their awards on the CCSLC.

How do I do this? I'm having some trouble setting this up.

You understand that longest post of the day isn't a good thing, right?

  7. Ohio state "division championship" ring even though they were banned from all post season games

And this, boys and girls, is one of the reasons why the nation despises The Ohio State University.

Technically, if the entire nation "despises" us, that would mean that the Buckeyes have no American fans. Judging by the fact that we pack every place we play, I'm guessing at least a few (million) people in the nation don't despise us. Sounds to me like you're just jealous that you couldn't get accepted to THE Ohio State University. Now that we've settled that, I think I'll put on my Ohio State class ring, stare at my diplomas, and be arrogant for a while. B)

Seriously though, I'm not sure how I feel about that ring. Part of me thinks it's OK that they had it made, but a bigger part of me thinks that it's kind of stupid. In either case, it's ugly as :censored:.

  8. Infrared I never mentioned anything about a contest. You said "I've always wanted a World Series ring" so I said you can have one it just takes some doings (time, money). Then you went off in a fit of anger for no reason. If you really want a WS ring save up and get one. I'm not wealthy by any means. All my rings I have to save up for and buy. I currently have a fund that I put money into in the hopes that one day a Packers Super Bowl ring comes my way. Until then I'll keep socking money away incase. Since your a Packer fan you'll enjoy my newest ring I just got yesterday.

First off, I already have a World Series ring. Second, "fit of anger?" I wasn't angry at all. Annoyed maybe, but not angry. That aside, I think you misunderstood what I meant. When I said I always wanted a World Series ring, I meant that I wanted one with my name on it etc. As in I wished I would have made the big leagues and won one. My ring is as close as I'll ever get to that. The point I was trying to make was that my GF bought me the ring because she thought I would like it. She wanted me to have a World Series ring with my name on it. (God knows she's heard me talk about my failed baseball career more than anyone should have to.) I thought that was a pretty cool thing for her to do. That's what I meant when I said my ring "means something." Whether you meant to or not, it came across like you were trying to show off and belittle my ring by flaunting your "real" rings. Apologies for any misunderstanding.

With regard to buying one like the ones you have, I appreciate the advice, but the money isn't the issue. If I want one I'll just buy one. I think I'd rather wait until the Packers deliver another Super Bowl so I can buy a shareholders ring - with my name on it. B)

Anyway, that's another nice addition to your collection. Do you ever wear any of them? Also, of the rings you have, how many are actual players rings and how many are staff and salesman samples?

  9. I'm seriously considering buying one of these. I'm not exactly a Cards fan, but I've always wanted a World Series ring and this is probably about as close as I'll ever get. B)

Update: Turns out my wonderful GF was way ahead of me on this one. The last Christmas gift she gave me to open this year was a little black box and inside it was one 2011 Cardinals World Series ring. Yup, she's the best.

All it takes is some doings and you can have a real one..see

If by "doings" you mean dropping a couple K on a salesman's sample, I'd just rather not. My ring is "real." And I'd rather have my ring. My ring has my name on it and it was an extremely thoughtful gift from someone important to me. Your rings, while "real", are pretty meaningless. They all belonged to someone else before you ended up with them. Every day when I put on my ring, I'm reminded of how wonderful my GF is. I don't look at it and think "yup, won another auction" or whatever.

Just to be clear, you don't have some sort of magical formula. Championship rings aren't hard to come by. They're actually pretty easy to get. It's just a matter of whether or not someone chooses to spend the money on them. You have a nice collection, but I'd just rather have my ring. It means something.

I have one of those "mine" rings also..

No offense dude, but this isn't a contest. I get that you have a bunch of rings. Good for you and all but what does any of it have to do with my ring?

Anyway, nice ring. I was hoping for one of those this year, but the 49ers kind of screwed it up last night. I should have bought one when they were still available but I screwed around and waited too long. Maybe next year.

  12. Here's an opinion that may or may not be unpopular - I really hate it when people take designs they don't personally like and call them "lazy".

I could not agree more. Apparently, clean and good looking equates to lazy, poor design in some circles around here. (see what I did there as I move on to my next reply? B) )

    Roundels are universally :censored:ing terrible.

This would make for a very nice debate on a certain podcast we're both acquainted with. I happen to think that roundels are cool more often than they aren't.

  13. Didn't know players got these:

    l_00090_DallasBradenPerfectGame.jpgl_00091_RoyHalladayPerfectGame.jpg

What entity purchases these and chooses the design (MLB or the AL/NL)?

I don't know, but if I had to guess, I'd say that it's a gift from MLB (i.e. not the team). The conferences leagues are run by the same commish anyways.

Based on how similar the rings are, that would be my guess too.
