Steeler fans claimed that? I never pegged them as the willfully-ignorant type.
They aren't "willfully-ignorant" because that would mean they had a choice in the matter.

The NFL didn't exist before Super Bowl I. Everyone knows that right?

link to every Super Bowl ring: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/1104/super.bowl.rings/content.1.html?eref=sihp
I'd like too see pictures of all the rings BEFORE the super bowl
Here's the 1964 Browns NFL Championship ring.
You can see some more of them here. That site also has conference champs and AFL rings.

Anyone have a shot of the sides of this ring?
From what I see so far, they're pretty classy. I like.
Two or three pages back there are some really good shots of it. Or you can check it out here.

new texas rangers AL Championship ring
I think Texas got the better deal out of these.
Agreed. A lot of League Champions rings are better than the actual WS rings. I think it's because they don't spend as much on the League Champions rings and as a result they don't end up being as gaudy.

Its a little too understated for my taste.
That surprises me. I guess I just figured you for the understated type. -Dan is into the bling. Who knew?

Looks pretty big but it's wearable. (Wearable just doesn't sound like a real word does it?)

Two more rings that I just added to my collection
How much you want for that Ohio State ring?
-
I didn't go back and read 11 pages to see if this one has been posted but... This is an interesting design. I'm guessing it's modeled after old Busch Stadium. I'm not sure if I like it but I have to admit it's unique.

I don't think I would wear my ring everyday. Not because I wouldn't want to, but because they've gotten so large and obnoxious they're not really practical for everyday wear.
No argument there. At least MLB hasn't quite reached the NFL level of absurd championship rings. I haven't gotten to see a Giants ring on someone's hand yet but in the pictures it looks like it might actually be small enough to wear.

Is that where the fantasy football people get theirs?
They seem pretty easy to get. Take a look.
You know, $250 as a gag gift for the winner of a league is not that bad provided everybody chip in at the beginning of the season or everybody else pays for the winner.
I have a feeling that there are plenty of people out there who don't see those rings as a gag gift.

To wear or not to wear..that is the question

If I had a World Series Ring they'd have to cut my hand off to stop me from wearing it.

Wisconsin semi-pro football team..pretty nice for semi-pro!
If you don't mind it being made out of a metal called Lasium and using CZ for the diamonds, you can get a ring like that for around 400-600 bucks. There are a bunch of places that have the templates already made. You just add your team name, year, league etc. Custom designed with your logo etc. they run about 600-800 bucks. Less if you buy more than 12.

Partial of a sketch of Auburn's National Championship ring.
Is that definitely the ring or just one of many designs they maybe considering? I ask because, as someone has already pointed out, it looks a lot like the Patriots SB ring, and because teams usually get bids from various jewelers. In any case, I think that ring design looks too...I don't know...feminine I guess? Despite the fact that it's shaped like a football, it just doesn't look like a football ring to me.

Infared, that makes no sense. Those are my logos that i have made and havn't given the rights away to.
With the NFL and such, the artists already made their money.
It makes just as much sense as thinking it's ok to buy a counterfeit jersey. As a counterfeiter I don't really care about the particulars of your logo. I'm stealing it and making money off something that doesn't belong to me. Do you think I care that you may have sold it to someone else and made your money?
I'm just using your stuff as an example of how it's all wrong.

So if price is all that matters, why buy a TV for $2000 when you can get the same one for $500? So what if that the ones you are buying for $500 were stolen out of your neighbors' homes, that's not your problem, you're getting a deal. Of course, buy purchasing these obviously stolen TVs, you're creating a market for it and encouraging thieves to break in and steal more TVs to sell, but who cares - you got yours. Well, until it gets stolen and sold to your neighbor for $500.
Just because one is a physical product with a forced-entry method of stealing and one is IP which is easily stolen without anyone getting physically harmed doesn't really make it much different. Except to most of you of course.
Well said. It simply floors me that so many people think this kind of thing is no big deal. Especially here of all places.

If you cannot understand what's wrong with intellectual property theft then there's no hope for you, frankly.
Do the designers get residual payments for every jersey with their logo or design sold?
Or are they payed a one-time fee for their work?
After downloading "The Penalty Box" and giving it a listen I've decided I really like your show so whether you like it or not I'm going air it on my radio station. We're also going to print up t-shirts and bumper stickers using your logo. We're getting the shirts made for 5 bucks and selling them for $25. The bumper stickers are costing us around 8 cents and we're selling them for $2. Since we're not paying you or your partner a salary or for the rights to your show we're really happy with the profit margin on both the commercials and the merchandise sales.
Also, we need you to replace 97.9 with AM 1340 on this.
And we'll need you to replace "Edge.FM" with AM 1340 on this.
Keep up the good work and thanks for the free programming.
No one in this thread has a problem with any of this right?

Back in the 80's I was living in Toledo and working at a hotel not far from where the Mud Hens played. A scout from the Reds came in to our hotel and he was wearing his '75 and '76 World Series rings. I commented on them and he let me try on both of them. It was pretty cool to have a World Series ring on each hand for a minute or two. As a joke, I asked him what would happen if I ran out the door with his rings. He said "Nothing. I've got three more at home." He had coached with the 70's A's and scouted for the '83 Orioles. The guy had five World Series rings.
These are the two I got to wear.

Everytime I see a grown-a$$ man in a jersey (especially a customized one) I just think he's some big kid who is imagining that he's actually on the team by putting on the jersey, like he's fulfilling some childhood fantasy. It's all a big game of pretend. If you're actually at the game, maybe you get a pass, but it's still kind of corny for adults to wear the jerseys of other adults.
Yeah. It couldn't just be that jerseys are comfortable and make for good "lounging around" wear. Now asking people about how to take a piss while wearing a certain style of underwear or dispensing advice on "man rules?" That's the stuff "grown ass men" do. (for those that don't know, I'm referencing some of the "man type" stuff BBTV has brought up in the past)
Never in my entire life have I thought I'm "actually on the team" while wearing a jersey. Nor is wearing a jersey "fulfilling some childhood fantasy." They're big and comfortable and I like how they look. Sue me.

Its funny how this thread took off. If you read everyones comments, it seems like confessing or AA.
"Hi my name is raysox and I don't care for the Ball-in-glove logo."
Hi. My name is infrared41 and I don't think the ball-in-glove logo is anything special. Didn't care for it when it was their primary logo. Don't care for it now. Sorry.

i love gray facemasks.
Same here.
I also think the Cleveland Browns look great. That's a very unpopular opinion around here. But the one that sets me apart? The fact that I think this...
is by far and away the best look the Rams have ever used.
-
So when is Detroit bull dozing 1/3 of it's city?
If that's the best you can do then you really need to remove that Ohio State logo from your sig.

Call me crazy but I don't see Utah doing too many 12-0 seasons playing a Pac-10 conference schedule. Not for a while anyway. Still, good for you Wasatch and good for your Utes.

Ugliest, gaudiest, Super Bowl ring ever. And that's saying something.
