I don't understand the "whoa, pump the brakes, speed racer, dallas winning the finals?!?!" narrative when they've literally won one in recent-ish memory.

That was seen as kind of a fluke and there is no connection from the current team to that team, outside of the owner and ugly logo.

It would have been nice if Wemby would have ended up in the East (or Edwards, for non-Wolves fans). Or if the Hornets would have held onto SGA. With Brunson as a notable exception, it seems like the best players all either get drafted by a West team, get traded to a West team, or sign with a West team.

Isn't it crazy how that keeps happening? Even when LeBron went west and you saw an exodus of guys heading east (KD, Butler, Harden, Westbrook, etc), it always normalizes in the end.

I think a healthy Knicks team is a title contender right now, but they're not healthy. And it's hard to take the Celtics seriously until they actually win something.

Dallas or Minnesota as NBA champions sounds kind of inconceivable but also, why not? They keep on having great wins.

  3. Denver/Minnesota is clearly a wrap. They probably were saved by those extra days rest between games 2 and 3, plus the fact that Murray wasn't suspended but really should have been.

But you can't deny talent, and that's what Denver has. An amazing roster, the best player in the game right now, and a coach that's an :censored: but also very, very good at adjustments.

Denver for the repeat. I don't think anyone else has a chance.

  4. Dwight was instrumental in that 2020 Lakers title. The Lakers brought size back to the NBA for that year and they dominated as a result.

And then they lost their bigs, had an unfortunate early exit and went all in on Russ. Dummies.

In part because Nuggets/T-Wolves played two games before Celtics/Cavs played one. So it was a combination of tv scheduling and letting the other series’ catch up.

Anthony Edward’s threw a chair while leaving the court in their series last year, injuring two fans, and didn’t get suspended.

He should have been suspended for that last year and Jamal Murray should have been suspended this year.

Adam Silver is really terrible at discipline.

Rumors of Denver’s demise were greatly exaggerated.  Up 27 after three.

Why exactly was there like a week off between games 2 and 3?

Jamal Murray really shouldn't have played last night.

The best part about this signing is there’s fans who genuinely think OBJ is still relevant.

If he came to Buffalo he'd be good. Since he's with Miami he's trash.

That's just the way it goes.

Or they had two guys graded equally and gained 60 positions in the draft later on.

    I sure hope so.

Buffalo has had some pretty good drafts in recent years. Just sucks to trade with the team that constantly rubs their face in the dirt.

I've simply never understood this take. What makes having more options less professional? What makes having combinations and the ability to put show your brand in an another way that it contrasts the competitors brand on the same playing field. Hey if it looks good it looks good. By no means am I happy with all of the Texans choices but I don't think choices makes a team any less professional. In fact it gives this forum another thing to argue about on a week to week basis when it comes to pants and socks choice.

Responding kind of late here (this thread moves fast!), but my problem with NCAA uniform dress is its impermanence.

It feels like every team, especially the mid majors, is rocking a new set every single year. There are all times of helmets and colors and design flourishes that the uniform itself kind of means nothing. It's an end to selling jerseys that season because if you're not Alabama or Ohio State, selling jerseys is all you have to look forward to.

The NFL has been around forever and has settled a sense of expectation in the culture. The Packers are green and yellow. The Raiders are silver and Black. The Chiefs are red and yellow.

What are the Texans colors now? What uniforms do the Broncos wear now? Even the Jets that people like, what do they look like? Sometimes green, sometimes black but it depends.

To me it cheapens pro football legacy and the representative of a city and a set of colors it feels like it should have. All in favor of gimmicks and selling jerseys and other junk.

  10. The NCAA-ification of the NFL is a real drag.

And I don't even hate the Texans, especially if they hold tight to actual home and away designations.

But all of these uniform combos and billions of helmets; it cheapens the game to me.

Zion and Jimmy both sustaining significant injuries in the "play-in tournament" really rubs me the wrong way. The suits will cry, why can't we get our star players playing more often? Well, stop setting up traps that get them hurt in fake-important games to miss the games people actually care about.

When the play-in was first announced, I think it would only include the 8 and 9 seeds, and the winner would advance.

Including the 7 seed seems unfair. Going from the 7 to potentially out of the playoffs altogether is a huge, huge disadvantage. Especially if, like the Pelicans, they finished 2-3 games ahead of the other seeds.

Similarly, the In Season Tournament needs to mean more. The Lakers and Pacers played an extra game with stats that didn't count, and a trophy that kind of doesn't mean anything. I don't think you should guarantee a seed to the IST, but that was an actual game that actually happened. Maybe it's a tiebreaker? A win that cancels out a loss?

Welp. That was a pretty fun decade.

Four titles in 6 years is about as good as it gets.

And knowing the Warriors, they'll somehow land Giannis or Donovan Mitchell or both and start it all over again.
