But is it, though?   I get that you wouldn't want to go, and maybe that you think the players shouldn't have to play. It isn't going to be deadly - let's not be so melodramatic.

Dangerous cold? Swapping the day and night times would have been a good option a couple of days ago.

And also I know it's a dome. I was reflecting on that afternoon sun peaking in. Just looks like a different time altogether.

  2. Seattle City Council voted against a street vacation that would have created space for a privately funded NBA arena a few years before Climate Pledge. All of the Council women (5) voted against and the Council (men) voted for.

As you can imagine, a bunch of people were upset and said angry things online. So the council members who voted no (which was fully pressured by the Port of Seattle and the Mariners not wanting another facility in the area)  got to deflect any criticism of an obviously farcical vote by saying poor them and poor women just trying to legislate in a world of misogyny and hatred.

Anyway, I don't like when people shut down legitimate critique by appealing to civility above anything else. It's bull:censored:.

AJ Brown officially OUT for the Ass Birds vs Bucs game on Monday due to his jacked up knee, and possibly done with the team altogether.  Speculation is that he's fed up with the poor coaching (which has been pretty obvious for the second half of the year) and even snapped at his real-life BFF (and godfather of his kid) Hurts a few times this season.  Things can fall apart fast.

You were right about this season after all. Credit to you.

    These guys are rolling over.

"Football weather" usually makes for terrible football. Watching two teams try to avoid freezing to death while playing a football game is not fun. Snow games look cool, but that's about it.

This is true. Wild conditions can sometimes take away both teams' advantages, and then you end up with a 6-3 finish.

And unlike last year, Buffalo can't use Detroit as a backup.

  5. Belichick floundering in year another place without Tom Brady would sure be wild to see.

If he does stay coaching, LAC seems like the best fit. In we're being fair, Belichick hasn't had a good, let alone great, QB since Brady. Herbert isn't Brady, but he is likely a top ten QB.

Only Saban has officially announced he's retiring. The other two seem to plan on continuing to coach.

Isn't Pete staying on in some sort of emeritus role? I know it's a bull:censored: title they gave him, but I didn't get the sense he was itching for a new job. Or that anyone would hire him. Seems especially hard to invest in a 73-year-old when the new trend is Millennial coaches.

It should be Vrabel, but it probably will be Dan Quinn.

I just heard secondhand of Belichick to Seattle? That would be a total disaster.

Vrabel is probably going to NE anyway. Let Belichick slum it in Carolina or Atlanta.

  8. Is this real? If so, hilarious:

EDIT: Also, it's a shame the MVP is a narrative-based award.

Josh Allen finished first in total yards and TDs, beat the Chiefs, Dolphins twice, and Cowboys, and ended up with the 2 seed.  And he would have had more wins if the defense could hold a lead against the Pats and Broncos.

It's at least worth a discussion of Josh vs. Lamar.

I don't believe that one game dropped him 2-3 rounds.🤨

NFL  QB s need to be able to handle pressure in the pocket. The Washington O-line was one of the best in the country, and Penix had all day every day to make those beautiful throws.

The Michigan D-line was far beyond anything Washington played all season long, and Penix couldn't handle it. His on-a-dime throws disappeared, and by the end of the game he was just chucking it.

I like Penix and I'm a UW alum. I wish last night had been different. However, it wasn't and Penix was a huge part of why Washington wasn't able to win, even though the defense kept them in the game through three quarters. The win was there for UW, but Penix couldn't hit his receivers. He could get within three feet of them, but was consistently off the mark in high-pressure settings.

If were a GM, I'd see him as a project and not a starter.

Did Penix cost himself any money last night?

Probably. After the Texas game he rocketed way up. But last night not being able to handle pressure probably tanked his value. I think he went from first or second round to third to fifth.

If it comes out he was injured, that's probably even worse, given his history.

Maybe his career trajectory is Teddy Bridgewater? Knowing what we know about him, where would he be drafted today?

I didn't get to see Washington play much this year, but what was up with Penix's throwing motion? Does it always look like he's chucking free t-shirts into a crowd? He just looked off. So many opportunities he just didn't connect on, and several really terrible decisions.

    Anyway, congrats to Michigan*

That was his worst game of the year. I'm not sure what was up -- and it's possible it was Michigan's defense -- but he's generally way more composed.

Check out highlights against Texas last week; he was a completely different guy.

Had Penix played to his normal level, the game is probably a lot different. But he didn't, and that's a credit to Michigan putting a ton of pressure on Penix.

Also, he ended up way desperate in the 4th. That was just a guy hoping for a prayer.

  12. Washington had every opportunity in the second half. That holding call on the big play was suspect, especially since there was a lot of getting away with things all night long.

    Anyway, whatever. Cheaters always win.

I don't. The weather forecast for Saturday in KC is 14 degrees. Probably colder at night. I don't think the Dolphins offense is built for that kind of weather.

    Oh, good point.

I guess both those teams are on the decline, either way. And I'd like the Bills to have a shot to get a playoff win against the Chiefs. Especially at home; it would be so satisfying.

it’s a weird play in that he’s never actually going to be “down”, so at some point they have to make the forward-progress call. I wanted the Bills to get it, but objectively it coulda gone either way and wasn’t a bad call.

I do think it’s funny that nobody can consistently pull off the Shove, yet the announcers talk about it like it’s unstoppable because it’s the only play in the Ass Birds’ playbook that always works. Why can’t everyone do it?

Until that play, Josh had been perfect on 3rd/4th and 1s.  Josh was still moving when they blew the whistle and they could have gotten him there. If that were a goal line play, they would have let it go further.

  15. I like Miami's chances in KC. The Chiefs haven't looked right for more of the season and they didn't seem entirely happy with each other during their last big loss against the Packers. Or Raiders. Or the Philly or Bills losses. Wins against the Bengals and Chargers at the end of season don't feel especially inspiring either.
