  1. Whoa, mama. I don't care for most of this.

    • The omission of the sword, the only element that screamed "cavalier."
    • The unnecessary black in the shield
    • The weird, unmatching corners in the V of the CAVS logo
    • The mish mash of fonts

I guess the colors are fine. They're my high school colors and they're original to the NBA. The feathered C is fine but, again, was better with the sword.

There have been a few close calls in the MLS so far.

    When's the contract up?

    You'll see improvement then.

We heard the same thing about adidas and the NBA and look where we are now

Well this thread is running out of steam fast. It has been an exciting 20 plus hours though.

One thing to note: I'd be STUNNED if they are sticking with Washington Football Team.

To go into all this trouble and then just keep the boilerplate name, I just don't see it.  They wouldn't pass up a new chance to generate excitement over a new name and all the merchandise sales to follow.

Having a month long ramp up to just announce nothing is changing would be a real kick in the knackers.

Love the jersey, in a vacuum. I'm just hoping they look unique on the ice and not like a pseudo-Jets.

Similar to the VGK going gold, it seems obvious this team will eventually go with the pale seafoam/blue over the dark navy. Wonder if thought was given to going that route.

If I had to guess, I'd say the alternate jersey will be that "ice blue," possibly with the secondary anchor logo on the front.

They're gonna be disappointed then, haha. Maybe 2022/23, i guess? I agree with the yawn, though. Give me something new for a Nets city uni, not a recolor.

Seems like most teams have been doing this. When you have to change the jersey every year, this is an easy way to kick the can down the road for a season.

So here’s my problem with the Reign branding: Olympique Lyonnais is not a strongly recognized brand in the US. “OL” is asking people to take it a step further and recognize an acronym for a brand that isn’t strongly recognized.

Perhaps a more significant issue is that the branding now has next to nothing to do with the region, other than “reign” being a soundalike with “rain”. And the fact that the Reign are an established franchise in the area. But this current branding feels like ownership could just pick it up and move it anywhere, anytime. Maybe they want to.

Tony Parker, who is part owner, has said he wants to move the team to Miami.

A lot of sports team names are rooted in the local lingo.  Dodgers makes no sense outside of Brooklyn.  I had to look up where the Pacers name came from.  Sounders?

And people can make almost any team sound bad if they want to.  You shouldn't base your team name around what it could turn into.

Seeing that STL look among the rest...yea that ain't red y'all.

Trolley Dodgers doesn't make sense in LA?

Yet again, a generic name that's already used enough repeatedly in the league. This doesn't feel like the right path for MLS to take, to me. Made considerably worse by the specific fraughtness of STL's city/county dynamic.

I do like how the logo is put together, though it feels like it will get dated quickly, and there's little to latch onto in terms of a brand. Interesting choice on the red, hopefully that plus a good jersey design will set them off from Chicago, Dallas and RSL.

Only by Orlando, no? I don't consider NYC a "City" team because "New York City" is the locale.
