  1. I figured a Three Rivers thing. But I don't expect no reference to this.
  2. I actually was wondering if the A's would change. Obviously, I don't think they should, but that's for reason of history and such, and how much do people find that more important than flashy new stuff nowadays? But the renderings for their home have featured the current A sooooo much. I know that it's all tentative, but it seemed like such a major feature, including a large statue of it at the entrance.
  3. Huh... I didn't notice until just now that those aren't the final socks we got for Baltimore. Perhaps these were early pictures and not all made it to the final stage?
  4. Is there anyone in the world that wouldn't prefer cartoon bird with B or recursive birds for eternity until any human that beholds it sinks into madness?
  5. Huh. That was my initial thought. It's pretty high concept. Interesting. I don't know how much people are going to be rolling up the sleeves. I have no idea how these are going to look on the field. At least the socks guys will be rolling the pants up. Otherwise, everyone is just going to see the black.
  6. "Randy Ready". If you'd told me that was a major leaguer, I would have guessed you were either screwing with me or he was from the 1920's. I joked earlier when the Dodgers were announcing they were working with Mr. Cartoon on an alt, but it would make the most sense to come true. Although currently they wear their original CC's on every home Urias start. I wonder if he'll eagerly switch to the new one upon its unveiling. They... don't... have a regular blue jersey.
  7. I saw the black in the leaks and was like "Really? We're really going full black after black infected the brand and never left like a cancer constantly threatening to bubble up with horrible consequences?" But dangit, these are objectively kinda fire. I blame it on how good a color scheme red and black is. I don't really like these for the Reds, but would love to see this as the unis of a theoretical Vegas expansion.
  8. A while back I remember seeing a cap that took the Devil Ray gradient and applied the current colors do it going from navy to white. It beautifully emulated the waves. I think Navy, Columbia, and Yellow is a really good color scheme to fit the aquatic theme and to brighten up the Trop. But I think similar to the Marlins they're overly dark and reserved with them. Instead of dropping gray in favor of navy, they should have gone full Columbia on the road.
  9. Technically, Vince did two seasons. We need to get to a third season to surpass him. Dear lord, I hope it's obvious that I'm joking.
  10. The ad on its own is about as good as it can get. I also didn't notice the outline, thinking it was just definition because thestitching stuck out. The thing that makes this an abomination is not the patch itself or the sponsor (although there seemed to be some complaint from locals about Stifel), but the way they steamrolled Sutter's memorial patch for it. The mention of DeWitt being a uniform guy seems to support it was done for aesthetic reasons. You could even keep a black stripe on the same sleeve as the patch. Or, given how small the sponsor is, just put the memorial patch on the same sleeve and flip the sponsor as needed. It should fit easily. At least the identity is the same, so it's not that bad.
  11. I can't believe it. The Cardinals ended their homestand the 19th and two days later in Seattle the Sutter memorial patches were gone. Then they come home and suddenly have the new patches. They've been planning this and tried to slip it by. They have two sleeves. How can they do this? Were they trying to avoid complaints about the memorial patch flipping sleeves? Were they worried about the aesthetic issue of flipping patches for their uniform? The correct answer to either of these was absolutely not completely dropping the patch. This is despicable.
  12. @maxwasson, we need to stop meeting like this. With me adding a banner because someone we wanted to win fell short. We'll always have the Chiefs, tho. Also, I suppose it means everyone is in contention each year.
  13. Watch the team that has the history of this: Being the one to go with just white pants like some have been clamoring for with the last few.
  14. Honestly, I was half expecting them to go the CFL route and make each division half of the split X in the logo, although I suppose that would work better with East and West than North and South. An up or down arrow wouldn't be bad, though in the future, and I feel like it would be just as cheap if not cheaper with looking less generic. But a big X from the current logo would make a good trophy. Hopefully this is just the beginning.
  15. Honestly, I have always expected these at any moment to be an abomination (which I did feel many were before finding out the deeper meaning or how much they hit for the locals) or a Brandiose-style MiLB local dish one-off level of cheese. So every time the team instead goes for the throwback look (which also often has the added bonus of making the team look like the team), I rejoice. The Brewers got close to the latter, but it looked enough in the spirit of the team's history.
  16. I think one guy suggested it, we all dunked on him, and then people got sidetracked on the definition of Pacific Northwest. Although I might have missed some discussion last year. Either way, you're absolutely right. The league just chose to go for the repeated consonant.
  17. Well... That trophy... They really didn't know if they'd make it this far, huh? Any difference between the North and South trophies? I haven't seen the North yet.
  18. I imagine they're going off of the idea of any stretches of pine forest in that corner counting?
  19. You know what we need more out of these uniforms that are meant to represent local pride? Exclusion of most of the market.
  20. That piping detail. It must be some kind of light they're shining on them. Huge difference between that and the color detail.
  21. I... can't... believe that it's black. Not that I'm shocked they made the choice. There's a lot of black accents in the set. I'm literally looking at those pants and only the fact that you guys are saying it's black causes me to believe it's black. It looks 1,000% more navy than the Rangers' pants. And even the rest of the accents (such as the sleeve patch) look navy in the detail pictures. They must have been shining some kinda blue light on them because this does not look black at all to my eyes and it's tripping me out. Objectively, I think these look beautiful. I'm not sure if most of that is due to the fact that the pants look navy to me, so they seem less out of place and the two-tone blue look looks really good. Given how dark royal is, the pants look less weird than the Rangers' did. But I also think the way they're being worn and the striping go a long way to them looking like a baseball uniform. The Rangers' pics never showed the socks, so we were left to assume the rest, and the piping was a single line, so they really did look like they could be workout pants. These are being worn right.
  22. Wow. I always thought that was just alliteration and a fairly generic name. Neat. In less neat news, New Era shut down the Braves' big hat home run celebration.
  23. Huh. I didn't even think there was that strong a relationship as I just grasped at straws. It does make sense to go nautical, but... If there's one thing we've learned looking at this whole project it's that we have absolutely no idea what teams will pick as the theme they use to rep their city.
  24. Hmm... Is this a common format on Twitter or used by the team? Or can something be gleaned from this? Any chance they're tapping into their old days as the Capital's team by leaning into a military aeronautics theme? Are there other aeronautics links in Maryland? Or are they just being silly?
