Wonder if this world cup can continue one of soccer's oddest quirks - both Bayern Munich and Inter Milan have had at least one player in the squad in every final since 1982!

That would be the now-retired Antonio Valencia, this is Enner Valencia - who used to play for West Ham

I like how the graphics for the two higher profile tournaments trust the viewer to recognize the clubs from their crests, but with (mostly) smaller teams populating the Conference League they just straight up write the names underneath

am I the only Islanders fan who doesn't care about Tavares leaving? I think they got as far as they could revolving the entire franchise around him.
I'm with you on this, he was a shining light and a model professional on some awful teams, and left to join his boyhood team. I can't claim I wasn't sad about him leaving, but I was never angry.

Hold my hands up, I totally missed Griese.
Teaches me not to post badly researched facts when not entirely sober

This is incorrect. I'll let you do the research to figure out the other one.
Yeah I was hoping I'd get the edit in before anyone noticed

Only 4 QBs in history have ever lost their first Super Bowl start and even gone on to start in a second, and of those only two have ever managed to win a ring as a starter.
Len Dawson lost Super Bowl 1, then won Super Bowl 4.
Fran Tarkenton started, and lost, 3 with the 70s Vikings.
Jim Kelly started all 4 losses for the Bills in the early 90s.
John Elway lost 3 with the Broncos in the late 80s, before going on to win 2 in the late 90s.

As much as it pains this Mets fan to say it, one of my favorite teams of recent years has been the 2015 Royals, precisely because they went against the prevailing trend by being such a small ball, contact hitting, baserunning focused type team, in a way that felt like a serious throwback (especially for a team from the AL!)

Boy, the NBA really wanted a team called the Dragons in the '90s/'00s. The Raptors, Grizzlies, and Bobcats almost went with it, and the Nets nearly rebranded as the New Jersey Swamp Dragons.
I will never get over the fact that every team in the league voted to approve that name change, except the Nets themselves!
