I would find it tasteless, if an already profitable franchise like the Montreal Canadiens turned some of the most sacred uniforms in the league into giant McDonalds ads.

Well, they may already be profitable but the ads can make them more profit. Yes, the uniforms are traditional but no one is immune to the lure in this day and age. Look at Barcelona, for example. They resisted having any shirt sponsor for far longer than any other top-level team did. Not counting UNICEF, which wasn't a traditional sponsorship deal, Barcelona didn't have a front shirt sponsor until 2011. That's nearly 40 years after the first shirt sponsors started appearing.

Give it time. No one is immune.

Don't take this as me being in favor of it, by the way. I don't like it any more than you do. I've just accepted that it's inevitable.

wow will people seriously do anything because of a dollar sign?

Every single team is a for-profit business. Do you think that they've never done something more unethical than having an ad on the jerseys?

Having ads on the jerseys isn't as unethical as the virtual player slavery and union-busting back in the day.

  3. As of right now, I have six teams' primary uniforms remaining. All six are held up by various issues.

Anaheim: the only font file that I have for them is the original Edge version that is more squat than their current font. When I scale it at a similar scale to the other teams' numbers, it doesn't look right.

Arizona: I'm missing their current font and their shoulder patch. I'm sure I've mentioned it before in this thread if not elsewhere but I like to have SVGs of every single logo to make sure that I can do precise color adjustments. For shoulder patches, it's a bit picky because of how small it ends up being but that's just my preference.

Calgary: I'm missing their first Adidas font, which I want rather than using the same block font as their retros. I have the original italicized version of the font. I'm looking for the non-italicized version.

Colorado: I'm missing their shoulder patch.

San Jose: I'm missing their shoulder patches.

Vegas: the font that I used in the original version worked fine because the 6 in 67 when I had Pacioretty on the jersey didn't look weird. Now that I've shifted to first year of play for the number (and thus 17) the 1 doesn't look right. I may keep the font for the name and go with a different number font but so far I'm coming up empty.

I actually would have liked that Blues jersey if the piping would have stopped when the shoulder yoke stopped. Just cut that yellow piping off at the corner of the white/blue yoke. But I liked the shape of the shoulder yoke.

You may have just given me an idea.

While Boston and Vancouver did technically have new designs for the EDGE implementation, in practicality not really. They both brought back old jersey patterns. It's not like they brought in uniforms with weird panels and piping specifically made for the EDGE system like Ottawa, Calgary, Pittsburgh, etc.

What I meant by new design is that they didn't just move their existing design over to the Edge template.

It’s crazy to me that the Capitals haven’t changed their uniforms since the 07 edge release.

Same for the Blue Jackets. They may have changed the font and the shoulder patches but the core fundamentals of the jerseys have stayed the same. Of the four teams that introduced new designs for the Edge redesign and are still - more or less - using those designs (Boston and Vancouver are the other two) Washington and Columbus are the weakest. It's not surprising how few of the Edge designs have lasted. Only eight teams are still using those designs, and the other four are Original Six teams who moved their designs over from the 6100 era and are still using the same base design.

Meanwhile, of the other 22 teams that were around for the Edge change, six basically copied their 6100 jerseys over to the Edge template but are no longer using those designs while sixteen teams introduced new designs that are no longer in use.
