For proprietary and copyright reasons, he had to take the fonts offline. In most cases, those fonts were intellectual property of their original owners, and even though some of us may be crafty enough to extract the letterforms from PDF files to recreate the fonts, it was still a violation, and he could have been faced with legal action.

 It's a modified version of Franklin Gothic. The 1's have been changed to look like capital I's.

I saw this on Twitter. It appears that "Ridge Sports" is using Nike's Hypecool template from 2-3 years ago. It also looks like they use many patterns and fonts out of the Nike catalog. They even added their own version of "Flywire" on the collar. From the Twitter and Facebook, it looks like they're out of Europe (France) and looking at getting into Texas high schools or semi-pro teams.

Not necessarily. I believe companies like Nike, Adidas and Under Armour contract their uniform manufacturing to third parties, who apply the corporate branding to them. I think Nike's are made by Powers Athletic, and Adidas' by Ripon Athletic. At least, they used to be; Reebok used Ripon, my guess is that Adidas would do the same.

These third parties might be selling their uniforms to other distributors. I've seen uniforms in Broncos templates made by many different uniform suppliers, for example.

That looks very bold, but I think it would look better if the logos were screened back and the wordmarks went on top of them. Either way, they couldn't be used unless there was another color border to separate the logos from the white boundary lines.

Longtime lurker, so go easy on me. Hopefully the pictures work.....The United Shore Professional Baseball League (all 3 teams at one ballpark) unveiled their logos yesterday. Can anyone else think of a team nickname being the Unicorns? Logos are pretty basic, although I do enjoy that the frog is catching a fly-ball.

Couldn't find any info in the release, but the top and bottom logos look like the work of Flynnagain. Can anyone confirm?

Anyone know what font is being used for the Guitar Hero Live logo? I'm assuming it's a font that's been heavily modified and customized, but if anyone knows what the base is, that would be awesome.

I've missed most of this thread, but as a former AHL season ticket holder, allow me to chime in...

Admiral made a huge point earlier...the AHL isn't about winning championships. It's about developing players at limited cost.

When Lowell had a team, it worked out well for travel costs. There were 7 teams within roughly a 2-2 1/2 hour drive (Manchester, Portland, Worcester, Springfield, Hartford, Providence, Bridgeport.) While it becomes incredibly boring from a fan's perspective to see the same teams all the time, it was very cost-effective to have nearby opponents. And when you have close rivals, you also draw rival fans, which increase your own attendance.

It's funny everyone has mentioned the Calgary/New Jersey model of cutting costs. Both were Lowell's affiliates at one point, New Jersey especially for the last three seasons.

As of right now, Manchester will be an ECHL affiliate next year. I think that franchise will lose a lot of fans. It's not like theres nothing else around, but it will be hard to cultivate a low-level rivalry when the nearest opponent is over three hours away. Doesn't make for a lot of last-minute visiting fans to help fill the seats. At least in Lowell, it was an option to head 30-45 minutes to either Worcester or Manchester to take in a game.

Another person here asked about the level of ECHL competition compared to the NCAA. I say it's even at best. There are players in Hockey East who are NHL prospects, and when the NCAA season ends, most will sign Part-time TryOut (PTO) agreements for at least 10 days. It's possible it's due to the geographical proximity, but I think it's because Division I hockey is a good preparation for the AHL.

Someone else mentioned travel costs, and brought up the Alaska Aces. Teams cover travel costs for their opponents. For the last 6+ years as a franchise, Lowell never played more than 12 different opponents. The owners were too cheap to pay for trips out west. Even though teams like Houston, Rockford and Omaha would travel to New England and play Worcester and Manchester, they skipped Lowell, which is right in between the two cities. Lowell's ownership would not spend the travel costs to send the team out West. The furthest opponents that would come to Lowell were Norfolk, Hershey, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Binghamton visited once. Syracuse and Rochester were unseen since the early years of the Lowell franchise.

Lowell lost its franchise in 2010, and the arena was purchased by UMass-Lowell. A lot of renovations were done, including more luxury boxes, video display/message boards, etc. I have also moved out of Lowell, about 25 miles away. If Lowell was to get an AHL team again, I'd definitely take in a few games, although my season-ticket days are most likely behind me.

What's the problem with 2 accs if neither of them is banned, nor have a reasonable offense to do so?

You can always just make a note of it and ban the 2 accounts at the same time when you actually have some sort of reason to bring down the hammer.

When there were more contests on this board, members would create duplicate accounts for the sole purpose of voting for their own concepts.

People create a second account when they forget all the login information to a previous one...it happens, we're human, not a big deal.

But creating a second account for voting, post padding/flooding/spamming, or to get past a previous punishment will create an immediate banishment of all those accounts, and even the I.P. if necessary.

I understand the second suspension thread for the guy with four accounts, he made the third and fourth to get around being banned. But I don't remember seeing in the rules that you can't have two accounts. Is that a recent add?

It's been stated board policy to not tolerate dupe accounts since 2006.

I just saw that thread in this subforum. While it forbids multiple accounts, it lists a punishment of two weeks. The first suspension thread of this guy says a full ban.

If a person has an account suspended for behavior, and says "fine, I'll just continue to visit here from a different account", that's against the rules.

If people aren't mature enough to behave themselves on an internet message board, they get punished.

What does it day when you have to create another account to get around a suspension or banishment? It says you aren't mature enough to be a member anyway. Or you're a troll. Either way.

Specifically, a second account was created to bypass a previous suspension.

It's a no-win situation for the mods.

For the longest time, we heard complaints that the mods were too complacent, they let too much crap happen without acting on it, they didn't act on things fast enough, or were this group of insiders with their minds set on discipling a few certain people while letting their friends get away with whatever they wanted.

Now that there are new mods, with a fresher perspective on handling board issues, we hear complaints that the mods are too visible, there's too tight a leash on everything.

Above all else, this is Chris' board. He was generous enough to create a message board where people can talk about sports uniforms and logos, first and foremost. All other side forums are just ways to enhance the experience and world of sports logos, but not to talk away from the primary focus.

Chris has trusted the mods to help keep the board running smoothly. That includes deleting comments and threads that go off-topic, and to issue disciplinary actions as necessary to members who continue to act in ways antithetical to the purpose of the boards.

Don't like it? You don't have to visit. Other members have started their own message boards when they didn't like the direction things were going here.
