I don't think Connor McDavid will be winning a Cup with Edmonton this year, or anytime soon, if ever.
Unless there's a mega turnaround, I think they're getting a first round exit.

I didn't expect Toronto to bounce back and crush the Lightning 7-2.
I've never seen them this fired up before.

Leafs very briefly gave fans hope, when making it 3-2 to overcome the 3 goal deficit.
Instead, they totally collapsed. Tampa wins 7-3 with an onslaught of goals.

40 TEAM NHL WHO SAYS NO?!?
As long as it's not Quebec City or anywhere else in Canada, Gary Bettman says YES.

With 5th last now a lock, it would be incredible, if Montreal pulls a New Jersey with a little lottery luck. It's been a long time the Canadiens have had a player of his caliber.

The endless legal inner turmoil isn't an encouraging way to convince voters to vote yes.

I know most of the "Bettman is going to gift Bedard to the Coyotes" narrative is tongue-in-cheek, but it's pretty sad that there are people who actually believe it. If the league had the ability to rig the lottery, McDavid would be playing in Toronto & Matthews would already be in Arizona.
I doubt the NHL would rig the lottery, knowing there's a representative of each team present when they spin the balls. But Gary Bettman is desperate to keep the Yotes in AZ for whatever reason. He purposely set the Draft before the election, so that even if they don't get Bedard, they could use any elite prospect to try to convince voters to approve the deal.
It's not completely out of the realm of possibility that he could rig the lottery. But realistically, I believe it's unlikely that he would do that.

Wasn't one of the issues with the Thrashers that they had a rotten team when they started due to an awful draft? And the Coyotes are a a s***e team that will very likely continue to be s***e for quite a while.
They failed to build a better team around Dany Heatley and Ilya Kovalchuk. Also, the car accident that killed Dan Snyder had a negative affect on Heatley.

If the NHL wants to come back to Atlanta they will more than likely need to build a new arena. State Farm Arena (former home of the Thrashers) was renovated and is now more basketball friendly. If its still possible for a sheet of ice it may end up like another Barclays Center situation. Gas South Arena, located in nearby Duluth, is home to the ECHL Atlanta Gladiators, however it only seats around 13,000
They lost their hockey team twice. I don't see how a 3rd run could be successful, looking back at their track record and the lack of urgency to save the Thrashers, when their latest team was on the verge of leaving again.
Quebec should get a team, if there's a way to re-arrange the conferences without shoving an eastern team in the west.

Where will stanley cup patches go now?
hoping for SC finals with teams that have no ad on their jersey.
I was going to say next to the advertisement patch. But the advertisers won't like that. So they'll do like Florida and clog it wherever they can next to the captain's C.

The new Yotes alternate is nice.
It does need a logo on the front. But it's refreshing to see them in burgundy again.

I can't quite put my finger on it. But I get the feeling that this current Leafs roster is under a tremendous amount of pressure, from the players to the entire management dept.
