I will never ever approve of the "Wild" name but bringing back the iconic North Stars colours and sweater template will make the "Wild" name less dislikeable to those who feel the same way I do. The "State Of Hockey" secondary logo is a very nice touch. The "Wild" logo looks very natural in the North Stars colours. Should kelly green and yellow-gold return full-time, I hope Minnesota uses green font on the whites instead of yellow.
Maybe the league thinks "North Stars" and "Stars" are too similar and they want distinct identities.
Replacing one of the league's top identities with a 2nd star crest that's already being used (sort of) is a step down logo-wise, imo. The D star is enough for me. Save the N star for throwback nights.

We all know the user in question also complained non-stop about the Lightning being in their 3rd straight Cup Final the previous season, don't we?
For real? I didn't realize that.

Especially when the two finalists have never won a Stanley Cup before, as was the case this last season.
Agreed. It's always cool and special to watch a Final with a franchise that has the chance to clinch their first title, sometimes after decades without much or any success. That certainly beats Warriors win lol or Yankees win lol.

It was not a good playoffs just because it started off with all the round 1 stuff that got everyone in a tizzy.
This is what this terrible playoff format has gotten us the last decade- a postseason that peaks in round 1. At least the NCAA Tournament more often than not peaks after the first weekend.
Gary Bettman has created a postseason where all the excitement is packed into round 1, which isn't how things should be.
It's like when the Super Bowl from like 1984-1997 was anticlimactic.
When the league has 32 teams, it's better to have unpredictable outcomes than to have the same big markets in the finals every year.

Seattle will probably go with Metropolitans style barberpole.
Vegas jerseys will probably be based on this. I could see the Vegas script inside the crest made of playing cards with the V swords as the shoulder logo.

Thing is, people do care about hockey in Arizona, between junior hockey clubs, high school hockey and even the ASU Sun Devils. They just don’t care for the Coyotes. Which is sad because it’s growing organically, but the NHL is an afterthought in the Valley Metro Area. They never promote the games, they don’t care. Reason why there’s never going to be any love. At least here Suns, Cardinals and the team that started a year after the Diamondbacks have the back and support here. Coyotes are the stepchild that gets locked in the basement only to run loose while the other children look at it with distain.
Yeah, I meant to say to care more about the NHL Coyotes.

Matching burgundy suits....gotta give them an A for effort.
They're throwing everything they can, to try to make people care about hockey in Arizona. What else can they do? Have celebrity appearences to promote the team? Create special events? They've already turned their entire social medias into meme accounts.

So was it nerves?
It wasn't nerves. It was disbelief that Montreal passed on the next Ovechkin for an average defenseman, in a draft stacked with offensive talents.
The pick has not been well received and it's completely understandable why fans are not happy.

I gave Kent Hughes the benefit of the doubt with choosing Slafkovsky over Wright. It hasn't worked out. So now Michkov is available and they pick an average defenseman over Mich and a few other skilled fowards still available. The Habs already have Hudson & Mailloux. What an awful decision.

I like the new changes. They kept the nameplates, fixed the overlapping numbers, got a slightly darker shade.

I don't know many businessmen who like to not make any profits from the businesses that they own.
But apparently, the plan is to fill that position anyway,
ifwhen the currents owner resigns just like everybody else did. -
The thing about Tree's video that sticks out the most is the amount of turnover, everytime a new owner agrees to acquire the team. They all get fed up after several years, get rid of their losses, and the game of musical chairs continues with someone new.

But they did it, too. This is like someone stealing your car, and they're really sorry they stole it, but they need to drive to work so they're going to keep it. But totally feel bad for taking it.
A lot of teams got traded amongst other cities, back in those days. Most of those trends were from decades ago. There could be a variety of reasons as to why it was more advantagious to just keep the same team/look in a new city. Technology wasn't the same, compared to today. The ones I remember mostly are the moves from the 90s and the 2000s. All of the NHL teams fully rebranded. The OKC Thunder spared the Sonics their identity and New Orleans got their own brand, after Charlotte got their original team back. Aside from a few odd exceptions, my expectations are full rebrands for new franchises.

But once a team moves and keeps the name, the name travels with the team no matter how long it plants itself in its current city.
It's too bad if Oakland ever gets a team back, they won't be able to be called the Athletics, if the franchise belongs to Vegas, even though they were the Oakland Athletics since 1968. That's 50+ years of tradition.

I don't see the A's changing based off team history as stated above. But, if this was an expansion team we were talking about ... the Las Vegas Flamingos would be a name I could support. The visual identity could be uniquely Vegas.
With that said, Vegas should put a spin on the A's identity, either with a flamingo mascot or different color scheme. Something just a little different.
Indeed. I'm fully aware of the history of the brand. I wouldn't mind ditching the identity, but I understand some want to keep it around because it's been around for a long, long time.
Putting a spin on a classic identity can be hard to do without breaking tradition. If it's a new color scheme like you're saying, you might as well rebrand the whole thing from scratch. If it's just something small like turning the elephant into a flamingo, maybe it can be acceptable.
I want something brand new for a new 2023 franchise. But I know I'm probably in the minority.

Philadelphia Athletics. Kansas City Athletics. Oakland Athletics. Las Vegas Athletics.
Oakland Raiders. Los Angeles Raiders. Oakland Raiders. Las Vegas Raiders.
Yes. Oakland's identities.
The Raiders were originally from Oakland. It still feels like Oakland's team, even if they had brief stint in LA.
The Athletics came from Philly. The name by chance fit Oakland to a degree because it worked for a classic team from the 60s. I thought Vegas would be more creative, seeing how the Golden Knights set the bar, in terms of team branding.
-
Vegas' MLB team should create their own identity, instead of recycling Oakland's former teams.
I get that the football team has been in the league for a long time. But to be completely honest, I'm not a big fan of how Las Vegas Raiders sounds as a new Vegas brand identity. If it was my team, I would want a proper identity fitting with Montreal, instead of taking another franchise and swapping city names.

Minnesota Wild has a nice ring to it, it's original, and it's fitting with the region.
Northern Lights is no way a better name than the Wild. Even if they were called the Northern Lights, it's still not the North Stars. Some people would still complain that it's not the absolute original name. They already added a northern light in the sky of the Wild crest. That's a good enough tribute to their roots that the designers could do.
