It’s not a coincidence because teams always lock into one home combo and one away combo for the playoffs
Well Cincy still chose white on white both years, assuming they get to choose at the beginning of each postseason.

So we have team owners tweeting things like this…
…but superstition isn’t worth discussing on this board? It clearly exists in some cases and some of us will make predictions based off of that. I don’t think it’s a coincidence, for instance, that the Bengals (who often alternate between white and black pants) wore white pants for four straight playoff games after winning the first three.

I think the Chiefs should go all icy white with white end zones. Maybe even introduce an alternate white helmet?
And then the Eagles should go all black with black endzones
All jokes aside, I would be quite shocked if the Chiefs wore white pants. Teams pretty much never wear any sort of alternate combination for the Super Bowl aside from those Rams games when the throwback was clearly the better look and the league gave them approval.

First time in Mahomes' career he has to wear a white jersey in the playoffs, so maybe the Eagles just want him to feel like he's finally in a road game.
They probably just wanted to wear their home jerseys regardless.

Bengals will hopefully wear black pants next year if they go on the road in the playoffs. Superstition undeniably plays a part in these decisions in the postseason for a lot of teams.

Perhaps someone remembers better, but I don't seem to recall the Bucs giving a solid reason for wearing white? I figured it was partially since they tend to be about 50/50 white/red for their home jerseys (not counting alternates) -- consult the Gridiron Uniform Database to confirm the ratios -- and partially since Brady was there, and he was with the Pats when they chose to wear white for LII, and won in white for the other three 2010s Super Bowls, so perhaps he wanted to keep the white jersey thing going with Tampa Bay.
This doesn’t explain why the Bucs would then wear white at home for all playoff games the next two years. Brady’s Patriots never did this besides the Super Bowl.

The Eagles typically have worn the sock color they post when they release the uniform combo, but tonight they wore white instead of black, which they posted, which makes it more aggravating to me.

Man would those teal pants would look nice right now. NBC broadcasts are so sharp and something about that late afternoon start time really creates a cool atmosphere. It’s just a shame the Jags look so bland.

Really, Jags? This combo hasn't been worn since their Week 10 loss at......Kansas City. Plus they've been crushing it in the teal pants lately. What a serious letdown.
I was even half-convinced I'd be cool with them sticking with this uniform design going forward if they were gonna regularly wear the teal pants on the road, but a big stage like this would indicate that they still value the boring, teal-less white over black combo.

To no one's surprise.

Yup. The red would’ve definitely helped tonight. The white clearly threw them off.
Are we really doing this? That is my point, that they should’ve just picked red because it doesn’t matter. All the other home teams this weekend wore their colors.

This Bucs team is old and bad and terribly coached. We might not need to worry about their home uniform choice in the playoffs anytime soon.
They’ve been doing it for regular season January games too.

Alright Bucs, you’re now 1-2 in these white jerseys in the playoffs since that fluke Super Bowl win. Let’s wear some red in January going forward. Thanks.

Please NFL, please require that teams wear uniforms correctly and that socks (and compression pants) must adhere to style guides.
The NFL looks worse than it ever has
You’d think with all the ridiculous, trivial things this league is strict about that this would be one of them.
Instead they’d rather have half the players in every game wearing white leggings.

I hope the cowboys lose. The white pants look stupid.
I hope the Buccaneers lose. Wearing white at home for a night playoff game with painted red end zones looks stupid.

Lol yeah it does. I’d rather have blue pants and the extra color than just a generic, cheap looking all white look that kids’ teams wear because they can’t afford the away pants.
I'm glad someone agrees with me on this. The blue pants with the red stripe give that look some pop and personality, The plain white is horrendously boring and consistently lessens the visual appeal of Bills road games.

Hopefully the Jaguars wear teal pants and black socks at Kansas City. That would be a great looking game on NBC.
Bengals vs. Bills would look good with Cincy in black pants and Buffalo in white pants, but we all know that game will be white on white vs. blue on blue.

As someone else said, pants should never be darker than the helmet, it just looks bottom-heavy.
So every white helmeted team should always wear white pants when they wear white jerseys? No thanks.

As someone who normally dislikes division matchups in the playoffs, I am glad we get Giants at Eagles next weekend since Philly will presumably have no choice but to wear green, which they rarely do against the Giants.
We also had three such matchups this weekend and each gave us a new uniform matchup than what the teams wore in the regular season.

This game has gone from possible best of the weekend to mediocre. Pant color shouldn’t even be a debate for the Chargers if the other team is wearing white from the waist down, but I guess using the term ‘icy’ makes it worth it.

I wish Madden 23 would update the 49ers midfield logo. They have the helmet on the end-zone that you see on the twitter video on the midfield in the game. They updated the Browns midfield logo when Cleveland introduced the elf, but not the 49ers?
EA is clueless and lazy. They had the Jags with teal end zones all year even though they didn’t do it until last week. They also have so many inaccurate uniforms.

The difference between San Fran’s red endzones and Tampa’s is that the Niners actually match and wear that color.

Seahawks have confirmed gray pants. Between that and the red endzones, this game will at least feel a little different than most of their recent meetings.
