  1. Not Oregon’s fault that Washington had a Covid outbreak. Had the two actually played, the winner of that game would’ve rightfully ended up in the Pac-12 CG. The Dawgs weren’t healthy enough, but the Ducks were and were able to go out and win the conference (and earn the Fiesta Bowl spot) on the field. The Iowa State selection over Indiana was a bit more controversial, but there would’ve been some controversy if it had gone the other way, too.
  2. The Fiesta Bowl is going without colored endzones this year, almost surely due to there being a 49ers “home” game at State Farm Stadium tomorrow: The 50 yard markers have also been replaced by white Fiesta Bowl 50th anniversary logos. Here’s a better look at that logo, albeit the full-color version:
  3. The Ducks are going with their best and most “traditional” road combo, yellow/white/yellow, against Iowa State in the Fiesta Bowl: I’m ecstatic to see this combo again, especially since they’re wearing yellow cleats this time around instead of the white cleats that they wore with this combo last season. Too bad the Cyclones will be in all-black, but at least the Ducks will look their best.
  4. Hawaii’s green is a darker shade than those Jets unis, and they’re gonna be in black helmets and pants, so it won’t be nearly as much of an issue as that Bills/Jets CR fiasco.
  5. Looks like Iowa State is sticking with the horrible black uniforms for the Fiesta Bowl on January 2nd against Oregon: Disappointing move, and actually a little surprising after they lost the Big-12 CG in the black set. As an Oregon fan, I was really hoping to see the Cyclones go with a Cardinal-heavy combo to provide some nice contrast from what will hopefully be a Ducks combo that prominently features yellow and/or apple green. I’m really hoping the Ducks go with the yellow/white/yellow combo now after not going with it for the Pac-12 CG:
  6. Agreed. I thought last year’s matchup was really quite nice, but after comparing the two I’d say this year’s matchup was definitely better. IMO the yellow/white/yellow is and will always be the Ducks’ best road look, but the green/white/green is right up there and was the best choice for this game. The apple green and white contrasted beautifully with SC’s classic home uniforms, and made for a really fantastic looking matchup all around. I personally would say this was the best looking Pac-12 Championship Game since the conference implemented it in 2011. Here are all of the past matchups for reference:
  7. Utah going white/red/red tomorrow against Wazzu:
  8. Wazzu going white/white/anthracite at Utah tomorrow: Not my favorite combo of theirs, but I’m glad they’re not going with crimson helmets and/or pants since the Utes will likely be in red. Arizona State going gold/white/white with white decals and facemasks on the gold helmets at OSU: Really not a fan of this helmet setup at all. I just don’t think the white decals work on the gold shells.
  9. The Ducks are going green/white/green for tomorrow’s Pac-12 Championship Game at USC: I’m slightly disappointed that they’re not going with the yellow/white/yellow combo that they wore in last season’s victory against the Trojans, but this is definitely the next best choice and what I would consider to be their second best road combo overall. I personally loved how the matchup looked last year, but the green helmets and pants will provide some better contrast from USC’s cardinal and gold this time around. Overall it should be a fantastic looking Pac-12 Championship Game tomorrow night.
  10. I’ve wanted them to wear yellow/white/green for a long time. Kinda hard to believe, but the last time they wore that combo was actually in 1998: I still prefer the yellow/white/yellow, but I would definitely like to see yellow/white/green at some point.
  11. Green wings probably would look better with this particular combo, but I just have never liked the idea of green wings on the yellow shells, as it would inhibit their ability to pair the yellow helmets with the yellow jerseys and the nightmare green and/or black sets as well. I think silver is the right choice for the yellow helmets, as it’s more of a neural and can work with all of their sets. That said, with their next set I’d like to see some silver present on all of the jerseys (preferably as something as simple as a number outline) to better tie in the yellow helmets.
  12. With the Ducks ending up in this Friday’s Pac-12 Championship Game at USC, I’m hoping they reprise the classic yellow/white/yellow combo that they wore in last year’s victory at the Coliseum: I know some on here don’t like this combo, but I personally think it’s easily their best road combo and is their “traditional” road look as well. I also think it created a fantastic looking matchup last year, even with both teams in yellow/gold pants.
  13. It is a pretty nice looking game overall, just too bad that the Buffs went with the idiotic black on black helmet decals:
  14. Let’s not forget who is arguably the biggest current athlete on Jordan Brand’s roster: I wouldn’t discount Westbrook’s partnership with Jordan Brand as at least part of the reason for UCLA getting the Jumpman deal over Arizona and USC.
  15. Cal going all-navy against the chrome/gray/gray of Oregon: Utah going all-red against Oregon State: The Beavs will likely counter with their standard black/cream/cream road combo.
  16. The Ducks are breaking out new light gray jerseys and pants against Cal, and pairing them with their chrome helmets with nightmare green wings: These jerseys are just a light gray version of the alternate white jerseys that they had last year, with iridescent numbers and dark green logos. The pants are the same light gray as the jerseys. This will be their third time wearing these chrome helmets, but presumably the first time wearing these helmets with ‘O’ decals that aren’t yellow. I’m not a huge fan of them bringing gray back into the rotation but I’m happy to see the iridescent numbers again and the jerseys pair quite nicely with the chrome helmets.
  17. Wazzu going crimson/white/crimson at USC: Not a fan at all of them going with a red-heavy combo at USC. Should’ve gone with the gray/white/gray combo that they were going to wear at Stanford a couple of weeks ago before that game was canceled. Colorado going gold/white/white at Arizona:
  18. Not ugly enough to prevent you from watching it, apparently.
  19. Arizona going red/white/red at UCLA: Utah going red/white/white in their newly scheduled game at UW:
  20. Guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree, then.
  21. Currently the platypus trophy just gets presented to the winning team’s alumni association each year, so unfortunately there’s never any sort of trophy presentation after the game. It’s basically regarded as an unofficial prize, which is a shame IMO. It’s such a unique and, frankly, hilarious trophy that it deserves a more official role in the rivalry.
  22. You’re certainly entitled to think that it didn’t work, just as I’m entitled to think that it did. I happen to think it worked quite well actually, and am expecting tomorrow’s matchup to work well, too. I agree that color vs. color matchups work when the colors are distinct from each other, and in the case of the Ducks and the Beavers I personally think that their shades of yellow and orange are distinct enough from each other to make for a good matchup, in large part because of how bright the Ducks’ shade of yellow is and how saturated the Beavers’ shade of orange is. It definitely wouldn’t work if the Ducks had more of an athletic gold and the Beavers had a shade of orange similar to Tennessee, but neither of those things are the case. You can certainly disagree, but that’s just my two cents on the matter.
  23. Agree to disagree, then, because I think it works quite well and will work in football, too.
  24. It’s worked pretty damn well in basketball:
  25. The Ducks are breaking out their chrome helmets with nightmare green wings and pairing them with the yellow jerseys and pants for Friday’s rivalry game against the Beavs: This is a really sharp combo, and actually one we’ve never seen before with prior uniform sets. They’ve worn silver carbon fiber helmets with yellow in the past, but they’ve never worn chrome helmets with yellow jerseys. I’m pleasantly surprised to see the Ducks go with yellow like they did in 2018, as it sets up another color vs. color affair with the Beavs. Really excited to see this combo in action, and I’ll be curious to see if OSU goes with their standard all-black set or black/orange/orange. Edit- It looks like the Beavers will actually be breaking out their orange set: This will be a very bright and colorful game, similar to the 2013 matchup but without any of the Ducks’ apple green. Will definitely give off a highlighter vibe on the field, but I’m excited to see it.
