Clamoring for the Dolphins to wear a superior uniform is a bad thing how?

It’s a uniform that deserves to be left in the past. The “throwback” status is a memento of what was. I don’t mind if they bring it back with modern touches. One of which is a better logo.

Honestly? Put the 49ers throwbacks over gold pants, red (striped) socks, keep the current helmet, and call it a day. In my opinion, that’d be the best of both worlds AND the best uniform in team history.

Agreed 100%. Ditch the current jerseys. I’d go as far as keeping the white pants around for alternate looks.

  3. Now that the 49ers have a throwback home and away set, I hope this doesn’t turn into a Dolphins situation where everyone is clamoring at the idea of “They should just wear them full time.”

They could leave it blank like they did when they originally moved to Baltimore while awaiting a new name.

You know what, I was going to write a scathing response, but after review... I like this idea a lot. Definitely a different play on throwback uniforms.

Speaking of the Lions, they really need to look into adding a set of white pants that are striped, as well as adding white striped socks.

Eh, much like the Seahawks, they look better in grey/silver pants compared to white.

If the uniform change is true for the Lions (which would take place after this season), all they need to do is use the number font from the throwbacks, maybe have a double outline, and if they absolutely insist on keeping “WCF”, move it back to the chest. Everything else is fine, IMO.

That is correct.  The silver with the current honolulu blue and white jerseys, the throwback design, and finally the color rush /alternate

Assuming that third set is the color rush option, it seems too dark

Just not get one. The Ravens don’t need a second helmet. Outside of throwbacks nobody needs a second helmet.

I never said they need one, but in the event they decide to have one, a purple alt helmet is the best option.

That example is a bit of a stretch. There's a half dozen teams or so with a history of white helmets, so it's not something Buffalo owns. Plus the Pats have a history of wearing white helmets, whereas the Ravens have never worn anything other than black.

Minnesota is the only team in the history of the league to wear a purple helmet, and they happen to use gold as a secondary colour. Even though one uses athletic gold & the other uses metallic gold, the black is the main thing differentiating the Ravens. Just look at these two pictures & try to tell me a purple helmet wouldn't look a little too close to Minnesota.

Okay then so it’s simple. Give the Ravens a purple alt helmet and Minnesota a black alt helmet.

Seriously though, what do you suggest the Ravens do in the event of the team deciding they want a second helmet? Purple is the most logical, white is a stretch and no chance in hell they do gold after the fiasco involving gold pants a few years ago. Unless they decide to scrap their color rush and unveiled a grey/anthracite/silver alternate uniform, I don’t see that as an option either.

Saying a team can’t do a certain color helmet because another team shares a similar color scheme is a poor excuse.

    Agreed.

However, my unpopular opinion is that it’s actually a worse look. Not bad, but I think navy just works so much nicer for the Chargers, give powder blue to another team, the Rams could probably pull it off just as nicely as they have royal (well not with their current set but historically speaking.)

Honestly it’s a bit of a tough predicament because both schemes do look so good, but I think they had a much better balance with it in their last set. The angle of the bolt however was an upgrade, I do like that change a lot.

When I saw the new set for the first time, it instantly made me realize how the Chargers somehow have been able to master three different shades of blue and maintain a consistent design in their existence. Which is absolutely amazing, IMO. The Chargers uniforms have never received the proper love they deserve

There's a Detroit Lions of Dallas joke in there somewhere.

If only the Cowboys could be this consistent with their blues and silvers, honestly.

Instead, we get three uniforms that don’t match, one of which is their best and rarely gets taken out of the closet, two shades of blue, unnecessary inclusion of black, vaguely green pants (prior to 2020). Am I missing anything?

Maybe the Cowboys should take a few pointers from Detroit

I mean I could see why some people would like the Falcons gradient look even if it's not for me (or most of us in here) but I can't think of anyone who thinks the Lions gray uniforms are good, especially when it's a different shade of gray compared to the helmet and the gray pants they wear with the home and away jerseys.

I’m sure if my eyes deceive me, but I think Detroit has three different shades of grey pants

  12. For as much love as the Texans proposed white helmet gets and how 90% of fans want them to do a faux (or even true) throwback to the Houston Oilers,

    1) it’ll never happen

    2) they’d 100% do a red helmet to have the full battle red uniform

It will always blow my mind that the Eagles brass are all “we want to bring back the Kelly green throwbacks” and make a fuss out of it, when they could easily change their uniforms to Kelly green if they want. I know they probably won’t because of the Super Bowl win in the current set, but if you want the change just go through with it.

Since Nike has taken over, the shade of green has been an improvement for the Eagles. I never cared for the shininess of the Reebok era.

As far as Kelly Green goes, it works fine for a potential throwback, but not full time, IMO.

considering we’re a full season away from seeing what any teams do, and two full seasons away from seeing if teams unveil new throwbacks, it’s way too soon to say that you’re right (though you probably are).

I expect some dumb needless alts in 2022, and then fewer of those and more throwbacks in 2023.

the teams to watch out for are the ones that don’t need to change up their shells for their throwbacks, since they’ll basically have a 3rd helmet option to play with.

I’m assuming you mean a team like that would have free range to do a different colored helmet for the sake of a different colored helmet?

The first team that comes to mind is Miami. They seem pretty solid on having a normal set and a throwback set. For as much love as the throwbacks get, why would they risk an aqua or orange helmet?
