While we're on the topic of the 49ers, am I the only one who preferred the "shiny" gold pants compared to what they have now?

Dang. That's a good-looking uniform. Easy to forget since what they have now is so good itself.

To be fair - and I can be wrong since I’m about to type something before researching it - but weren’t the original 1950s jerseys worn with a silver helmet?

    EDIT: MY BAD

No confirmation on that, yet. And if that decision had been made early enough that teams would already be making design decisions over it, I'd think we'd have heard by now.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen.

I agree. As much as I'd like to see the Falcons' red helmets and Bucs' creamsicles, the one-helmet rule is essential to maintaining brand identity in this ever-turbulent uniform world. It does more good than harm.

The Eagles have fantastic uniforms. It really is a shame they get overshadowed by the “nEEds tO bE keLLy gReeN” sentiment that gets shoved down our throats. The midnight green they currently use is beautiful in every way. Yes, the newer matte midnight green. Not the shiny (yet somehow dull) midnight green from years prior.

However, one thing needs to change. They, much like the Ravens, suffer from a sub-par number font that is in desperate need of a facelift.

I agree. Can't stand the NiKe MiDnIgHt GrEeN iS tOo BlUe talk. It looks great whatever color you want to call it.

Which teams have gone the longest without a major uniform change/rebrand?

Excluding "traditional" teams that won't change like Green Bay, Las Vegas, Chicago, Steelers, Chiefs?

Broncos have gotta be up there. They've had their same basic template since the mid-90s

  6. The problem is, you've got a great color scheme (oilers) and a great logo (texans) but they don't mix together. The powder blue is not "aggressive" enough for the Texans current logo. Either fully commit to the Texans (and emphasize use of red) or go back to being the Houston Oilers (if the titans would allow it)

There have been some WFT photoshopped helmet concepts floating around Twitter...

As a WFT fan, I generally like our unis, but they feel incomplete without helmet stripes.  I'm hoping to see at least a single gold stripe down the middle of the helmets next season.

    Heck yes to option 1

With me being a Dolphins fan, every time my friends (or mum) see Jax in teal/white they go "oh your teams playing" . Yes this is a small sample and yes i might have the dumbest friends in the world, but you know...

Is this you by chance? Serious question LOL (pls don't take this bad at all I think this is awesome and am genuinely curious)

If they really want the Panther in the shadows effect they should paint the back half of that blue.

Actually that cat was jumping into the shadows, much like its organization

This photo makes me realize what’s so wrong about the uniforms in correlation to the number sizing issue.

    That unnecessarily thick collar.

It pinches the numbers between the collar itself and the shoulder stripes. Another example of pinching is the 25th season patch from last season-

There’s so much going on in the area.

    • Small Numbers

    • Captain’s Patch

    • Anniversary Patch

    • Shoulder Stripes

    • Sleeve Logos

    • Thick Collar

Of course, not all 53 players don the [C] patch and the Anniversary Patch is a once every 5 (or 10) years deal, but that still leaves 4 elements to compete for space. At some point, something’s gotta give.

Not to mention that the collar doesn't match the stripes, which don't match the numbers

Do this. Clear decal instead of black so the Panther blends with the helmet to create a panther in the shadows.

This is very similar to what I was thinking, although it may indeed look better on paper than in practice.

I understand the comments above that show favor for the Panthers unis, and with a bit of clean up they could be very solid. But the fact is, there is a LOT wrong with them. The helmet stripes, the practically 2'' TV numbers, terrible striping/outlining inconsistency, awkward pant stripes, and too much mix-and-match. I'd like to see the Panthers phase out either white or silver, they really can't have both except for their away uni.

What this thread has shown me, however, is that the Panthers really do have one of the league's best logos. THAT should not change one bit.

  12. I've always been behind the idea of a black helmet and mono-black for the Panthers. They're a young enough and  historically *bad* enough team that they can get away with it. I'd perhaps even like to see a satin black with a lurking glossy/chromeish panther, similar to the falcons current helmet. Silver can be reduced to a tertiary color.

  13. I'm thinking Rams alts will be going yellow this year and black next year.

And also, having 8 redesigns last year, I am just fine having a year off. Gotta savor it. In the next 3 years, however, I'd like to see a new Bengals, Cardinals, and Panthers, not to mention a name for Washington
