The NFL is running out of “cool” things to allow. I thought single digit numbers was stupid. Pretty soon we’ll have dudes running around with fractions and decimals on their backs.

    Number π would go hard

To be the devil's advocate, it is a bit of a different situation. Red and blue are pretty common colors in the sports world--for obvious reasons. Something like red and gold less so. Of course, to your point, red and gold is a much different situation than if a team came around wanting to use Brown & Orange or Pewter & Red.

  3. I don't personally take the gold on the draft cap to mean anything definite. Some people like playing up gold for the Cardinals, even though I am in the camp that hardly considers it a team color. Madden graphics, for example, treat the Cardinals as a red and gold team.

EDIT: As an addendum, while I do think there is a way that yellow might look good, I also think that 3 red and gold teams is enough for a 32-team league.

  4. Thanks to everyone who left feedback! I went ahead and narrowed the purple stripe on the black pants, but the inclusion of white seemed out of place. I did revise the home pants, however, to pretty much be what they have today. Numbers on the alt were revised. I'm sticking to my guns on the helmet, however. The number getting "lost" was quite intentional and meant to give a "spooky" vibe reminiscent of "The Raven" poem the team is named after (not Nikespeak I promise). I mostly just really hate the main logo though and didn't feel the shield felt right on the helmet.

For the record, McCaffrey was still on the team when I made these...

Giants and Rams weren't "forced" into anything. They could have gone with non-metallic royal blue helmets in the early 90s like Duke and Kansas did. (Blue Devils had royal blue shells in the late 70s according to Helmet Project). They chose not to.

Kansas State had a custom light gray color in the 80s, so custom colors were available...

Kansas State still uses a Cowboys-esque helmet color and I absolutely love it.
