Berman's stuff from the early days of NFL Primetime was different/funny/tolerable. Most people enjoyed it, which is why he's stuck around as long as he has. But sometime around the turn of the century, his schtick got stale, and to this day still rides the coattails of his early success. And for those Home Run Derbys calls... ??

What is Hate Watching for $600.

It's a shame that his Thursday-Friday early tee time US Open calls have gone so unnoticed.  Good lord, usually when I say I'll mute the tv, it's in jest as a gag.  Berman + golf = no.

The only thing he was decent at was NFL Primetime, because frankly, it was 80% highlights & only 20% colour.  NBC killed that show, & NFL Gameday remained unbearable.

    That's right Boom {throws up in mouth}

EDIT: Listening to the Kilborn show. He's on cocaine, right? I can hear his heart about to explode through the microphone.  OMG

Yeah... 'I don't do interviews because I'm more relaxed that way'  ...looks like.

For someone who refuses interviews, he sure has a lot on his mind to share... about 'stories' he mentions & yet he keeps skipping to another story tease before actually telling the previous one.

On desktop, you can select the "resize" icon on the top left, then delete the whole quote box.

    Delete_Quote.png.8cb7e7c76153b22cc631fdc

Same thing on a phone - at least an Android phone. Click and hold on the quote title, i.e. "7 hours ago, 2001mark said:". The "resize" icon will appear again and you just need to press delete to have it go away.

Aye... I've never tried deleting it, simply right clicking without that option.

  4. I don't know how to phrase this properly...

Is there a way around having to include a poster's reply as bumper in this message box when I bail on my own reply or the like?  i.e. if I begin to type a reply & not bother... even if I return to post a fresh take the next day or week(? haven't got there yet), the previous poster's message/bumper I had been replying to continues to exist.

There seems to be no delete all option to include a previously posted reply- whereupon I've had to say 'this message has nothing to do with that person or message, there is no other option to participate without original bumper'.

I get that we don't have a delete post option, however being able to simply clear this box of stale irrelevant contents should be yes?

  5. Here's my latest NHL breakdown that could exist in 20yrs...

    Eastern Conference

    Maurice Richard Northeast Division

    Montreal

    Ottawa

    Quebec City

    Toronto Maple Leafs

    Bobby Orr Northeast Division

    Boston

    Buffalo

    Detroit

    Columbus

    Mark Messier Atlantic Division

    New Jersey

    New York Islanders

    New York Rangers

    Washington

    Mario Lemieux Atlantic Division

    Florida

    Philadelphia

    Pittsburgh

    Tampa Bay

    Western Conference

    Bobby Hull Central Division

    Chicago

    Minnesota

    Toronto Waxers

    Winnipeg

    Joe Sakic Central Division

    Colorado

    Dallas

    Nashville

    St. Louis

    Wayne Gretzky Pacific Division

    Calgary

    Edmonton

    Seattle

    Vancouver

    Luc Robitaille Pacific Division

    Anaheim

    Las Vegas

    Los Angeles

    San Jose

Each geographic division combo plays the exact same number of games between one another (i.e. the Leafs & Wings don't become strangers, the Penguins & Flyers aren't merely stuck with the Floridian teams, etc) so as never to cull long term rivalries.  The top 2 teams from each division play one another in the 1st playoff round, then play the winning team from their cousin geographic division, etc until the east v west Final.

Las Vegas receives its first big 4 team.

    Hurricanes become Quebec Nordiques.

    Coyotes become Seattle Rainiers.

Toronto Waxers are born into the western conference to both appease the Leafs & to carve their own unique identity & culture.

  6. As an FSU fan, the less than superb post Miami/VATech/etc era hasn't actually been all that bad, & I don't simply mean because of a national championship.

In effect, FSU has remained a bit of an island unto itself, or dare one says an Independent.  They're the big fish in that smaller pond, & they've not been penalized much for it.   Sure, ppl can claim that a single loss could kill a season... & yet their ridiculous annual rankings prove that it works both ways - having a bit of a more manageable schedule, with all due respect, keeps them in the title picture on an annual basis.  So too for Miami if they could figure it out.

If FSU went to the SEC or Big 12 or absurdly the Big 10, they'd become trapped in a land of parity.  Sure they could lose 2-3 games a year & look strong... but they'd be doing that with at least another half dozen+ to compete in what remains a land of human & computer rankings.
If today's Tennessee or Texas A&M or Penn State ever fell into the ACC, I'd argue they might find easier paths to the title picture.

But then again, the ACC trails in tv & money & all that jazz... which as these slew of posts & links have shown trumps all & thus my entire rant invalid.:vaderandluke:

  8. I had Stanley Cup table top hockey or something...  568866055_tp.jpg

That might've been 1985, the Christmas before Nintendo for me.
It was fun, I actually still have its 3" Stanley Cup on my bookshelf.  Downside was the teams it came with were Canucks & Canadiens- not sure if that was some standard bilingual + regional balance thing for Canadians.

I remember Wayne Gretzky's table game exploded right before 16-bit hockey vapourized it... 99's game must've made a killing, they were selling full 6 player sets for every NHL team.

  9. NCAA football should do a FIFA style drawing every 4 years for 4 seasons of updated/randomized conferences.  Screw traditions, screw tv, screw ADs, screw fixed rivalries...

Lets's see controlled chaos at its finest.

    Florida State
    Washington
    Michigan State
    BYU
    Oregon State
    Boise State
    Hawaii
    Buffalo

There... that division right there gets my tv eyeballs for every game.

  10. Original Six NHL was classic...

    Boston

    Chicago

    Detroit

    Montreal

    New York

    Toronto

If I had to make modern six team NBA, NFL, & MLB...

    NBA
    Boston

    Chicago

    Indiana

    Los Angeles Lakers

    New York

    Philadelphia

    NFL

    Chicago

    Dallas

    Green Bay

    New York Giants

    Pittsburgh

    San Francisco

    MLB
    Boston

    Chicago Cubs

    Los Angeles Dodgers

    New York Yankees

    San Francisco

    St. Louis

  11. Big12 playoff chatter once again. Big10 & co. want them to have 12 teams for that.

I've said it before, might as well steal UCF & USF while they're out there, move into not only the southeast neighbourhood, yet Florida recruiting backyards also.

Of course they'd never do that... I read they'd like UConn & probably Cincinnati (since they want a bit of that region & didn't bite on Louisville when they were available).

  12. CFL East

    Halifax

    Hamilton

    Ottawa

    Montreal

    Quebec City

    Toronto

    CFL West

    BC

    Calgary

    Edmonton

    Saskatchewan

    Victoria

    Winnipeg

I second that. Either this prediction or something similar MUST happen someday.

Let's be honest. That way, there will be a great well-balanced schedule for all teams; when one team faces its other 5 division rivals twice (home & road), and faces the other 6 non-division teams once (3 home & 3 away, with home-and-home series alternating every 2 years) for a total of 16 games instead of 18 or even 22.

For the playoffs, instead of 6 spots, it should be 8 (2 division semifinals & 1 division finals per division). That way, there won't be any crossover divisional matches. Just pure East vs. West finals/series to dispute for the Grey Cup in every single season, as the way it should be.

(I posted this in another thread)...

The CFL needs more teams because fans can't take seriously such a small league.

Sure the Grey Cup is a fun national pride event... yet when they keep telling me 'the real season starts Labour Day' then why should I care for the previous 3 months?? Don't get me wrong, I love that the CFL plays all summer & ends in winter, it's cool.

I just don't get excited for the playoffs, which we should be, when 6 of 9 teams qualify.

I want at least 12 teams in the CFL.
