Is there any word on whether TNT will be updating their NBA graphics package this season? I wish they would add a little more flavor ala team logos into their scoring bug.
And I totally agree with you @TheBigFiz21, the 2002-2005 NBA on TNT graphics were amazing. I also really liked ESPN's NBA graphics during that same time period.
I was just thinking of this as I made that TNT post. They've been on that last package since 2014, so it's time for a change. Hopefully we get something.
Just look how often they've changed in recent years: 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014. They've never held on to a package for more than 2-3 seasons lately

Got me beat by a few clicks and a FiOS log-in. But yeah, kinda saw this coming. FOX learned their lesson after using a bar in 2008
Edit: They also went the way of ESPN and added their own pitch tracker (as you can see with the zone box). There's a speed marker to go alongside the pitch coordinate too (kinda like in MLB: The Show)

I'd be worried how this will translate to baseball if they have their upgraded graphics are ready for the postseason...will they go scoreboard bar or modify it to be more like a box? Gotta do something with the baserunner diamond, so it might be better to box the scoreboard like when FOX's current NFL scoreboard moves to the left to display team stats (can't find an image, but I noticed this in Eagles-Chargers and maybe Cardinals-49ers)

This is the problem with all the major sports networks right now. They have all trended towards a less-is-more style in recent years. First came NBC in 2012 (and again in '15), then Fox in 2014 and CBS just last year. Even ESPN's graphics for SC, college sports, MLB, etc. have that same feel. And now Fox is continuing that way...now I wonder how THIS will affect the other sports on Fox and the local FS stations

Back when he was still Mike?
Yes. I don't think he started going by Giancarlo until 2013 or 2014 IIRC.

I can understand why ESPN would give Monday Night Football a unique scorebug but why NBA?
If you think about it, it's probably the third biggest thing they have going on the network (at least I would think); I would put MNF and CFB as 1 and 2.
Every other sport behind the NBA in popularity wouldn't even come close....which is probably why the MLB and college hoops games get the SC-based package.

ESPN's NBA graphics for the playoffs. Reminds me of what they had done for their scoreboards with the packages from 2010-2013 and they would just squeeze in the playoff, conference final acronym logo, or NBA Finals logo to the side. Except here it's left justified to the empty space of the info box. We'll see if it "toggles" this weekend because I wonder how will it display "(team abbv here) leads series #-#"
Kinda like how the seeding is added for each team too, even though I see it being 50-50 in importance when watching a game.
Also, the playoff roundel logo in the replay wipe is unnecessary IMO. Still believe they should have expanded on last year's Finals and carried those graphics over to the regular season.

The FS1 broadcast from Wednesday night looked the same as last year, so maybe it's just the Fox Network broadcasts, if anything, that will be updated.
Can't imagine that would be the case. Ever since 2009, Fox uses the same graphics on both the local and national games. If FS1 hasn't changed, I doubt we would see any changes there or on Fox until the ALDS. Might be another case of what happened in 2011 and 2012 when they needed to upgrade the FoxBox those years.

Two years is an eternity for graphics.
I would have guessed 3 since NBC, CBS, & Fox all change out graphics every time they each hit their Super Bowl year.

Yeah too bad they didn't used it I would've loved it for baseball
Hopefully all of Fox Sports, both national and local networks, have this ready for Opening Week. It looks nice and clean.

For anyone watching Super Bowl LI today...looks like Fox has a new graphics package, which is no surprise to me as the big game is always the opportunity to start a new graphics era. I don't have screenshots, but appears to be designed for consistency with the graphics from the FS1 shows like Undisputed and Speak for Yourself.
Of coarse, I'm waiting for the new scoreboard look. I dig it though...
