Lol you cannot seriously convince me that the Bledsoe-era unis weren’t the worst in football for the time that they were used, maybe barely edged out by the Broncos by the time they moved on to Brady-era.

Gotta agree here. To me the fact that the Bledsoe-era uniforms are loved now is one of the best examples of 90’s nostalgia blinding people I can think of. I just cannot reconcile those huge Flying Elvis’s on the shoulders. If a team released those uniforms today this board would crash from the amount of people coming in to pile on it and talk about how it’s the worst football uniform ever created. And before you say that’s because there would be no history associated with it, whereas the Bledsoes have history associated with the uniform, that’s essentially the definition of nostalgia.

  2. Normally I’d say the Bolts being down 2-0 isn’t a huge cause for concern (heck, they were down by that same margin just the previous round), but this feels different now. That’s the kind of loss that can sink a team’s soul. Especially after the Avs were dominating the first part of Game 1 but almost let it slip. Goes without saying but G3 is ridiculously huge now, no way Tampa comes back if they lose that one.

I have never seen a league so committed to recycling the same coaches around the entire league quite like the NHL. I half expect that when DeBoer, Laviolette, Trotz, Gallant, Sutter, Vigneault, Torts, Yeo, Hitchcock, Quenneville, and Cassidy retire the NHL will just fold because they don’t know that other coaches exist.

    Whoops. Forgot one.

I always find that basketball is the hardest major sport for me to rank a top ten for. There may be 15-20 players who have a legitimate argument to be a top 10 player, and you almost have to deliberately try to make a bad list. Basketball’s just been extremely fortunate to have as many legends play the game as they have.

Regarding Curry, he’s one of those borderliners for me where I can absolutely see an argument for him being top 10 or fall into top 15. He’s basketball’s Stan Musial for me; he could be 11-15 on one list because of logjam at the top, or he could be like 7-10 on another list, and neither seem terribly wrong to me. And frankly, that’s still an exceptionally great spot to be in on an all-time list. Nothing bad about that at all.

Exactly.  The fact that Curry is even involved in these discussions is amazing enough.  It's why it's so funny to me that Lebron haters' go-to lines now are all about how Jordan is better.  The fact that Lebron has even put himself in that discussion is incredible, let alone that he should actually win it.  The fact that the kid from Davidson who chucks up 3s is now being debated as a Top 10 or Top 20 all time player is amazing.

It's too bad that they aren't going with team-specific colours for the Finals patch.

Disagree, to me the whole point of the Finals patch is to stand out to emphasize that these are the Finals. I feel like team colored patches would blend in too much.

  6. I know all of the Browns’ failures over the last *checks watch* 23 years should make them a sympathetic figure, but handing a dude with a, shall we say, checkered past over 200 million smackaroos in guaranteed money basically takes any goodwill they had and burns it to a crisp. They alienated the first not-garbage QB they had in literally 2 decades for this. They deserve every bit of pain that’s coming their way over the next year plus.

  7. You know, we sit here and hem and haw about why teams always do BFBS, why multibillion dollar franchises spend months on redesigns only for them to turn out looking like garbage, but the reality is that BFBS and garbage uniforms will be a thing until the day that an uninspired, garbage uniform set with a random BFBS alternate is NOT met with “yoooooo these are fire!!!!1!11! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Also, what a horribly written article. The entire section on the white uniform consists of this sentence:

    Quote

I know the gradient numbers have thrown some off, but these are just super clean.

Really breaking out the descriptive language there, huh?

And let’s not forget this gem:

I can’t remember the last time someone described burgundy and black as a combination that “popped.”

The Oilers could do better than a stuck in the early 70s logo--btu too much baggage with it for fans--so they are probably stuck with it.

Genuine question - can they?  At this point I feel like the Oilers are on the same level as the Flyers, where the out-of-date and pretty cheesy logo they have has been in use for so long that anything new would stick out like a sore thumb.  More than that, how can you create a logo for a team called the Flyers or Oilers without getting into even cheesier, clip art-like territory?

  9. The whole solid color on the shoulders business reminds me of Barca's 2016-17 home kit, except that kit is probably the best Barca kit in recent memory, and the new one sucks.

Looking back on it, 2016-17 was an absolutely godly year for kits.  Real's kits that year were stunning, the three stripes on the side adidas kits for Bayern, Chelsea, United, etc looked fantastic, Barca had easily a top 2 effort of the MSN era (2014-15 really the only other one that comes close), Liverpool's kit that year was underrated with the all-yellow trim, I could go on.

Is this satire? Cause I genuinely can’t tell. One the one hand, “30-year non relocation agreement” is just the kind of ridiculous hyperbole that someone uses when they’re trying to satirize something, but on the other hand, it’s Gary Bettman and the Coyotes, so who even knows anymore.

  11. Yeah, to go winless on the road in the playoffs and then get bullied on your home ice in Game 7 is basically the definition of soft. All flash, no substance. I’d feel bad for the Canes, but the whole franchise just puts off this air of arrogance and insufferability that is in no way earned, so I won’t lie I’m not too broken up about them getting humbled.

  12. It doesn’t ever matter if Real Madrid plays well. It doesn’t matter who plays for them. It doesn’t matter who manages them. They’re like Infinity War-era Thanos. Fate wills them to trophies. It’s unbelievable.

I refuse to consider a season where Liverpool won 2 trophies as a failure but to say it’s disappointing is an understatement.
