  1. Quick question: is there any reason why New York Red Bulls have a under number advertising? I know it just says “New York Red Bulls” but they are the only team that has it. Are they permitted by the league to do so? Is there a rule behind it? Does it open up under number advertisements for future clubs?

I'm sure this has been said before, but this "tradition" is awful in all sorts of ways. MLS as a league is not super popular. A lot of its teams haven't even existed for more than 10 years, some for more than a couple. Many have changed logos and branding a few different different times in their existences. Its TV ratings are stagnant. And to an average fan, flipping on a game and not being able to tell who is playing? On a soccer game I'm on the fence about caring about anyways? Keep flipping. These teams need consistency to build the brands they have and become recognizable institutions.

I think the Parley/Primeblue colab thing would be good if teams just took a color from their palate and had their jersey be that color, then have an accent (like Austin FC's away this year), just something simple that they can use every year.

    Midweek kit matchups:

    https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/kit-matchups-what-your-club-is-wearing-for-mls-week-12

SKC and LAFC are both wearing their secondaries at home. Everything else is about what you’d expect.

Kinda interesting we haven’t seen any more mix-match kits. Especially when you consider that a team like Minnesota could easily pull it off (black jersey, blue shorts, black/blue socks) or Miami not mixing the pink and black together to diversify it a bit. I know we’ve talked about the monochrome thing, but with some of the kits unveiled this past year, and the schemes of last year, you could argue 7 or 8 teams could do it to bolster the match ups a bit.

If you have to say “don’t ask me how I know, I won’t tell you” means you’re not legit. Just like saying “trust me I know there getting a new uniform ” your “proof” to back this claim up is got more holes in it the Swiss cheese, so maybe you should tell us “how you know”. Yes I’m calling you’re bluff sucker.

     Did, did Teal come back?

Golden Knights' gold jersey would look way better if there was no white on it. There's really no need to have any of the color on the jersey at all. It looks so out of place.

They don't look bad, but they don't need that white color. In all reality, they need to swap it with black so it fully mimics the grey home jersey.

I feel like these hats find a way to get uglier and uglier every year.

I liked the ones from 2016, where the bill was grey and the whole hat was pink. I have the Cubs fathers day equivalent that has the grey bill and the blue crown and blue logo. I think that would probably be the best way. The grey is neutral enough for it to work with all of the teams, even if the pink doesn't mix in well.

  7. Saw a tweet a few days ago (listed as a few days ago too, can’t seem to find it) but he mentioned he saw an “unreleased” Charlotte FC jersey, would that be the Parley kit jersey you think? They wouldn’t get a 3rd based on qualifications that adidas and MLS have set.

    When's the contract up?

    You'll see improvement then.

I've kinda been on the fence about it. I always thought that if adidas ended the contract, or the league negotiated something to allow clubs to pick their suppliers that it would be fine. My fear is you have a couple of teams sign with an outfitter that isn't as well known, or are able to get products as easily, and you'll have a mishmash of clubs with stuff that they can actually provide their product because they signed with an adidas/Nike/Under Armour/Puma, and then a group of clubs that signed with a brand that doesn't get their stuff put out as easily.

Is there a full list of who's getting a City Connect this season?

At my local Scheels they have the Cubs City Connect jerseys available, they're the blue ones from last season, but I would assume any team that had one last year would just keep their CC uniforms for the '22 season.

I'm sure there are other examples , but has any player ever had a uni upgrade like Matt Ryan ? Falcons to Colts?

Maybe Drew Brees when he went from navy-heavy Chargers to Saints? I would argue that Watson's move from Houston to Cleveland would qualify, but I'm sure that's up for debate.

City connect uniform tease? Personally would love a cherry blossom uni.

You know. It’d be cool to see Miami lean more in on pink like Inter Miami. But probably won’t see that any time soon.

    excited for this though

San Diego reveal their new jerseys for 2022

Love the "Tequila Sunrise" stripes on the front, dig the much more accurate/vibrant colors on the home jersey.
Interesting remark on the away regarding the (street) pattern, too light and you can't see it unless up close, too dark and it looks dirty from afar.

their logo and frankly name still sucks tough.
Their SD monogram - which is already on their logo (could also double for the sun and a ball) is so much better than the loyal word mark.
There is such an easy fix, if they just would remove the loyal word mark from the logo.
added bonus: it also would be much more usable as a logo application from very large to very small

These area huge upgrade to what they had the last two years. I especially love the green home kit

  13. I liked the antlers because:

    1. It was unique for the fact it was antlers! We've seen Ram horns, bull horns from Buffalo variation of wings (Oregon, the Eagles, etc.). So to see the antlers was a nice way to refresh themselves and give themselves a new identity.

It would have been nice to see them update them & make them more elaborate, or bigger, because I will say they're size was a little small and seeing something more intricate would be cool.

  14. After seeing some of the highlights from this week a few things came to me:

    - Miami definitely needs to have some break up with the pink look. Black or white shorts would've been an ideal look, and I know against Chicago they didn't want to clash, but they need something to break up that look.

    - Portland's "Rose City" kits are really nice, but there is something about it that isn't getting me to fully commit to them. I don't know what it is, but it just seems like it's missing something.

    - NE hopefully has white shorts to break up the mono look, ditto for Toronto with their away w/graphite.

    - Philadelphia's homes are BEATIFUL. Hopefully 2 years from now they revert back to the PSG-esque center stripe and fully commit to it.

    - Vancouver should have a whole kit set dedicated to the hoop (home, away & alt). I'd love to see a columbia blue shirt with a navy hoop.

These match the black statement jerseys, but not sure if they are legit. Also a remix jersey a year too late?

I mean, Utah is the Beehive State, so black and yellow makes sense, but I think the whole set needs to be out there.

  16. You know, I think I’d be a little less disappointed in Minnesotas primary’s if they used the repeating star on the graphics they’ve been putting out on it as a whole pattern. It really would’ve looked a little more interesting than faint pinstripes

Sigh, this Twitter thread makes me annoyed. So many people saying the black is the best MNUFC has ever looked. So many people being wrong.

    https://twitter.com/DummyRunPod/status/1495484627426885638

I will say it looks really nice & sharp. But it isn't the best they've looked.  The wing kits are probably the best look they;ve had. I have the 2018 striped kit and that's a personal favorite to me. But the black isn't the best in MLS history for them.

  18. I think most of them are pretty good to OK, some of them have great ideas, but I feel like lack full creativeness.

    My top five:

    1. Vancouver

    2. Charlotte Home

    3. Philadelphia & Portland

    4. Atlanta

    5. NYRB

Don't blame anyone who's disappointed  but I'm surprised how much I like it. Numbers and letters should definitely be light blue though. If Vancouver can do it so can MN.

I think positively (but it probably won’t happen) is that with kit they can mix their blue river kits with these and do black/blue/black or some other kind of mix. But I don’t think it’ll happen.
