The swoosh is above the horn, not in it

I don't think there's been a clear view that shows this. The 'game action' is an estimate of what they look like. I see red in the sleeve horn, and that would fit Nike's MO for how they handle the swoosh.

Absolute upgrade.   I actually really like the number font.  Disappointing if that’s the same Houston wordmark though.  Also worried about how thick that Red stripe is….wait & see.

Also love how the numbers are done.  They’re not fully perforated and the Red trim looks glossy.

Can’t wait to see more.  Only scary thing now is the claim that each uniform will be a different design…let’s hope they tie together somewhat.

As pointed out upthread, I'm worried about two 'big' numbers on a jersey. They won't be perfectly posed like these are.

I believe there was a rule saying that you could keep your number from a prior position if you played that position for 3 years or something but I don't know at the point

No such rule regarding a length of time.

Cordelle Patterson is technically a WR, he just plays all the positions asked of him.

Ty Montgomery began his career as a WR, and was allowed to keep that number.

Ah, I glanced over that but it didn't register fully, i think there even was a reference to 3rd and goal? Are indoor fields 55 yards? 50?

Not great, but I wonder how much it'd cost to reconfigure an existing football app/scirebug/scorecard for that, or if any of the other leagues have/had it.

50 yards. If the league is generating their own stats page, their coding should have set up the field to be the right length.

I think we're going to need a "pointless numbering system outpost" thread to go along with the "pointless realignment outpost".

You're not wrong, but much of what we do here is pointless.

I'm not against change in general, but I'm a proponent of continuity.   I think change and continuity can exist at the same time.

Throughout modern NFL history, 7 and 12 have been like the QB numbers, much like 1 and 30-35 were the goalie numbers.

There's obviously HOF QBs that didn't wear 7 or 12 (Montana, Manning, et al), but 7 and 12 were still magic (and not Magic Majkowski).  Just like there were always a couple of goalies (Hextall with 27 for example) that were outside of that tradition, but the point still stands.

Hockey numbers really started changing once the Russians and other Europeans started entering the league, and admittedly after the shock of seeing 68, 91, etc. wore off, it's no big deal now, but there's really no reason for the NFL to make it hard-to-impossible for new QBs to wear the numbers of legends, and to try and extend the history of success that comes along with those numbers.

+1 for spelling the name right. BTW - laughing at that, not your post. I agree with your post.

The UFL will have to vet any prospective owners.  Example, if they decide to sell the Michigan Panthers and there are two prospective ownership groups and one of them has a background in Crypto and the other group is a group of investors that includes Dan Gilbert and Tom Gores, take the Gilbert/Gores group.  Not vetting owners is what is currently killing the indoor version of the game.

The indoor game doesn't care to vet owners. It's merely the promise of money that keeps it afloat.

I find these funny. It's as if it is supposed to trigger me as a Caucasian. It doesn't matter to me, which is entirely unrelated to how other people react to being depicted as a logo. I understand not wanting to be a logo, but this seems like a waste of time.

What the hell does AFL games and select matchups from this season mean?? [Department of Redundancy Department]

Aha - bad cut and past by the AFL. Here's what they meant to say:

The @nflnetwork  will televise more than 30 @OfficialAFL  regular season games and select matchups from @overtime  OT7's regular season and championship weekend.

    Understood and agreed.

My perception of "burgundy" could be totally different that someone else's.  Someone else could think the current color is more burgundy.

Members of my immediate family attend, or have attended, Lafayette, Washington College in Chestertown, MD and South Carolina.  All three use Pantone 202C as their red(dish) color, but Lafayette and Washington College call it maroon while South Carolina calls it garnet.  Boston College calls it cardinal.

It also doesn't help that teams and colleges occasionally change the specifications while keeping the name the same.  Washington College used Pantone 187C as its maroon until 2016.  Mississippi State uses Pantone 505C as its maroon now but used 202C until 2009.

Okay, I'm done preaching to the choir now.

    Golden.

Why is silver listed as a color for the Browns and Colts?

Didn't Jim Kensil work for the Jets' front office after this?

Also, didn't the Packers phase out Navy Blue before they hired Vince Lombardi or after?

Silver - probably in their secondary logos. Brownie the elf and the kicking colt on the goalpost.

    Kensil? IDK

Navy Blue? Yep, it was no longer in use at least in 1959 when Lombardi was hired, who famously declared 'we're the Green Bay Packers' (I can't write that with the emphasis on green like he said it, because too many announcers routinely say it with an emphasis on Green, and there's no emphasis on either word). The team was just slow in removing it from its official team color list.

According to the team directory in the Colts' 1964 media guide, the darker pre-Lombardi shade was also called Burgundy.

Thanks for finding this - it's something like this that I was going to try to look for to see what it said.

I'm not surprised. I think it's more a function of the apparel vendor used than the actual color. I see the Packers still included Navy Blue as their first team color in 1964 🙂

Yeah you got a good one Vet. Huff is a beast and I am disappointed in Joe Douglas that he could not bring him back to thr Jets

Don't worry, your assistant GM and starting QB will bring in Aaron Jones (good move) and David Bakhtiari (potentially not good move).  I couldn't resist after seeing this on X earlier today.

The Broncos owe him $39 million or whatever it is for this year. Anything he earns from his new team is deducted from that amount. He can sign for the veteran's minimum of just over $1 million with his new team, and Denver has to pay him the difference between his old contract and his new one.

Watch for him to land in Las Vegas, Pittsburgh or Minnesota.

    Wilson to Pittsburgh

There are six actual transit cities in America: New York, Chicago, DC, Boston, San Francisco, Philadelphia.  A seventh, Los Angeles, has deceptively high ridership numbers but would never cross anyone's mind as a transit-oriented city. Everything else is just "we actually have a surprisingly good light rail system." That goes for Atlanta, St. Louis, Dallas, Minneapolis, Denver, Miami, Seattle, apparently now Milwaukee for some reason, and yes, Salt Lake City.

    The Hop??

The Dodgers helmet logo is a similar case to the Yankees, where they have multiple LAs like the Yankees have multiple NYs.

The Yankees cap NY doesn't match the helmet NY, and same with the Dodgers (albeit the Dodgers LAs were much closer to each other than the NYs.)

99.999999999999% of people will never notice that the Dodgers' helmet logo changed, but that's why we're the 0.0000000001%.

I think you're missing a couple of zeroes.  Nice touch for these boards 🙂
