  1. Which ones you got? There are 5 or 6 people that are active members here that directly work on these...
  2. For the clipping mask question: This might be what's happening. Make sure all those letters in each row are "One shape." Meaning select "Pittsburgh" and then "Unite" those using the pathfinder. You should then be able to put that shape inside those letters. To get your outline back (depending how you constructed it) you'll need to either give that shape the outline again using the open arrow (the white one) or the better (IMO) solution is taking that gradient shape and "intersect" it in the pathfinder with your "Pittsburgh" type. you'll want to do this once you know where you want the gradient to line up for sure, because there is no going back! Then repeat the process with the "Steamers" text. Here's a little a tutorial that I did awhile ago for the question about creating paths. Its helped out quite a few other first timers so it may help you as well: http://www.pcgdstudios.com/tutorials/ (sorry about the seriously outdated graphics, its been quite some time since I did this. Also I believe I was on 10 or CS at the time but the basics carry over all the way back to the current CS5)
  3. Oh yes...what a great time for jerseys: Everyone forgets how crappy those were and they still cost $40 bucks. Just with inflation that'd be $60 bucks today. I know everyone likes to knock Nike, Reebok and Adidas but the quality of replicas has dramatically improved since the 90's. (Below is replica's only) Baseball: Back then they were screened on jerseys, sometimes on cotton. Today they are sewn on polyester which is more like the authentics. I believe replica's used to be like $50 and today they are $80, right in line with inflation and add a few bucks for better quality. Basketball: At least the magic ones have stripes now. Champion replica's resembled today's JC Penny level jerseys (which are a notch below the replica) which retail for...$45 bucks! Screw You adidas! Hockey: These have decreased in quality I will not argue. I will argue that the fabric and construction is about the same or better. Football: Better fits for someone wearing them out, better quality material, closer authentic fonts in most cases (not all...see Bears replica vs. onfield) I know everyone thinks the prices have jumped astronomically but when you look at the prices vs. inflation they haven't gone up all that much and the quality has improved a ton.
  4. So doing something illegal is ok as long as it isn't an American that gets screwed? When these unlicensed products are illegally bought and sold the NHL, NFL, MLB, NBA ect are all losing on revenue. I'm guessing an American or two gets screwed in that process. Not just bought and sold, they are printed here too. Every single NFL replica jersey is printed in Indianapolis Indiana. All of them. They are constructed overseas and printed here. Are you costing a American their job by buying a chinese counterfeit? Maybe not that one purchase, but that's one less one that was printed by an Adult American making more than minimum wage and one more printed by a Chinese Child in a sweatshop making .20 a day. (I know you'll say "But Reebok jerseys are made in Asia." That's true, but in countries that support fair labor practices.) And this business about authentics costing $15 is complete horse. They cost more than that (I don't know the amount) but you know who makes the most money on every jersey sold? Its the retailers. Retail 101: Retail price is double wholesale. NFL Makes a bit, the player makes a bit, and of course Reebok makes a bit. But its not like Reebok and the NFL are splitting 90% and laughing on a pile of money... Are they expensive? Hell yes. They make Jersey Tees for like $20. They make a 4 tiers of jerseys ranging in price from $40 to $280. It sucks, but you don't have a right to own a jersey. If you can't afford it you can't afford it. But you shouldn't support counterfeiters for a variety of reasons from you're outright stealing to supporting child/sweatshop labor.
  5. Get this book: http://www.amazon.com/Graphic-Artists-Guild-Handbook-Guidelines/dp/0932102131/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1293718055&sr=1-1 There is a contract inside along with many other good things including pricing and other practices you should follow. You can get them at most big book stores in the store so you can have one in your hands by the end of the day. Hopefully this isn't too late! Good Luck!
  6. Yeah I don't know how's not a legit football and basketball conference. They aren't the best in the country every year by any means but they are always in the discussion of best conference in each sport or at least one of the top ones for sure...
  7. Isn't that what priests call a reacharound? Even if nobody else will...I will applaud this. Top notch...
  8. I think it broke down like this. You have the top 4 teams (Michigan, OSU, Penn State, Nebraska) that had to be split up in some ways. Then you had the next two (Wisconsin and Iowa) that had to be split up. After that it was about protecting rivalries. Saying that, Wisconsin has the biggest complaints because they lost out on the Iowa and Nebraska connection. Illinois got off pretty good...3 division mates are within 5 hours of the Illinois Campus (Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State) plus their protected rivalry is just 3 hours up the road in Evanston.
  9. No surprises here. Soldier Field is a piece of crap and the media fears all things Detroit, so it was basically between Cleveland and Indy with the latter having more hotel space and being the established home of the mens hoops tourney. I'd love to see the game being held at Lambeau, but some sort of high speed rail from Downtown Milwaukee to Lombardi Avenue would probably have to be built to make that feasible. If you've actually been inside Soldier Field its not a piece of crap at all. At least it feels like a football stadium instead of a Mall (like Lucas Oil) but still good choice
  10. Big Ten's getting a new logo, but no way they change the name. Big 12 might, not much history with the name Big 12 but you never know, they might just keep it as is but who knows. Pac-10 can simply change the 10 to whatever so they'll change I bet.
  11. Still somewhat heavy in the East that way. But that's about as good as I think you can get. Nebraska's the top while Wisconsin and Iowa are solid second tier. Illinois and Northwestern can occasionally be decent and Minnesota is Minnesota. The west you've got 3 top schools in OSU, Michigan, and Penn State (assuming Michigan returns to what it should be). Then you don't really have a second tier, just the occasionally good teams in Michigan State and Purdue with Indiana being Indiana. So its fairly even really. Better than how the Big 12 North vs. South was... Basketball wise its really even. Wisconsin and Illinois are good in the West with everyone but Northwestern occasionally good. Nebraska I got to claim ignorance on but they seem like a Minnesota. Decent at times but generally middle of the pack. East its all Michigan State with Michigan having history and starting to come back, Ohio State's been pretty good the last 5 years or so, Indiana will be back, Purdue as well. Penn State is the Northwestern of the East for Basketball. So all in all, I'm kinda hoping that's what they go with. If they add 3 teams out east plus Notre Dame might throw all the Indiana schools into the West which keeps things pretty even as well. (Notre Dame joins Nebraska as the traditional power in the West for football, ND brings nothing to Basketball, but adding Purdue and Indiana could make the West basketball heavy.)
  12. Interesting, so I hope for Nebraska's sake there was a hard offer from the Big Ten, otherwise...welcome to the Mountain West Nebraska! As a Big Ten fan, Nebraska is a perfect fit in the Big Ten in most sports and I'm happy they are joining. (assuming this is all true) I can't imagine the Big Ten only moving forward with Nebraska, I think they only way they went forward with 12 was with Notre Dame. I foresee at least 2 more coming over. Perfect world to me its Missouri and Notre Dame, but its most likely Missouri and Rutgers and maybe more. Pac-10 is gonna be a hell of a conference with the Big 12 South coming in (again, if it falls that way). And although I'm not the biggest Kansas fan at all, you've got to feel for them. One of the best basketball programs in the country but they are gonna be left out in the cold cause they don't have much of a football team...that may be the most interesting stories after the fallout...where does Kansas go? Pat
  13. 15 months ago, that "source" issued a similar "news" report, confirming Mike Shanahan as the new Chiefs head coach. Todd Haley was actually hired. I should have used quotes as well...I meant to imply that I didn't believe it as a legit source...

  15. And only 10 baseball teams. Wisconsin doesn't field one... Texas Baseball would clean up in the Big Ten though...there hasn't been a Big Ten team in the College World Series since 1984! Texas has been there 11 times in that period...
  16. 1)I don't think the Big Ten NEEDS anybody 2)ND gives the Big Ten virtually nothing. They already have a presence in that state. Also, each B10 team makes more from the BTN than Notre Dame does from NBC. Notre Dame gives them Chicago more than Northwestern ever can. To me Notre Dame has always made the most sense. Then Missouri then Iowa State. However Pitt or the Cuse would be good to establish more eastern. Wonder if they'd ever try and go south. I'd imagine Tennessee and Kentucky are off limits, but Louisville wouldn't be the worst. Of course the only school out of any of those in the AAU is Syracuse or Pittsburgh... As a Big Ten fan, I've always wanted to see this. Its somewhat annoying that whenever anyone wins the Big Ten, it always seems they never play one of the top teams that year, esspecially when Michigan and Ohio State ruled the big ten and a "lesser" team won, they typically didn't have one of those two on the schedule. This wouldn't always prevent that, but at least you'd never not play the "number 2" team because you'd play in a championship game. Plus a Big Ten Championship game from Soldier Field would be awesome.
  17. I prefer masks for this sort of thing because you can still move them around if needed. If you physically delete the area and you need to move it again, you have to get the logo again and start over.
  18. There is a free font that is somewhat similar but not really called Mexicalent or something. If its a pro/college/international/highprofile company or team...80% of the time its custom or heavily modified font.
  19. Something should happen. Type out and change to outlines. Place "R" in upper Left, S in lower right Spread out approx, select all. Distribute one way.... Distribute the other... And your done!
  20. Both ways they said would work. Another way of doing it is to create outlines like tempest said to. Then position the first letter in the upper left (or right) position exactly where you want it. Then place the last letter exactly where you want it in the lower right. Position each of the middle letters approx. where you would like them to go. *if you have multiple layers, you will want to group each letter together with its outlines/shadows/whatever* Then select all the letters and go to your align window. There, click the even distribute button vertically and then even distribute horizontally. This will work best if the letter forms are close in the same size width wise and height wise. Just another way to do it. Works really well, I just had to line up some dots on a variety of angles and it worked fantastic for that.
  21. This looks similar to a font I've used on a few things that is in my fonts listed as DIN Schablonierschrift, but that font isn't as rough. Its a freebie so an internet search should turn it up.
  22. Are you typing on a path or warping the text. It sounds like you are warping your text. Try typing on a path instead. All you have to do is draw your path, click close to that path with your text tool, and you are done.
  23. Two words... Cliping mask.
  24. Actually all the tools under Pathfinder don't do this. Basically all they do is group them. Whenever I select the objects, whether they are grouped or not, it groups them, but then all I have to do is select Ungroup and they're seperate objects again. Is there nothing that permenantly welds them together? No, this does weld them. You have to then (as barnes said) hit the expand button to make them one object. When you say "vectorize" what do y ou mean exactly? If you are on CS2 LiveTrace, you'll have to mess with the settings. If you are trying to use your paths from photoshop into illustrator, then there really is no helping with that. If you are tracing by hand and they are coming out wavy, put down the beer. As far as your second question...I'm stumped. I'm not sure what you're asking. question back. what do you mean by details? You've added shapes? You've put filters? If you've added shapes one of two things are happening. You're aren't selecting your text when you are copying, or the text is locked. I'm guessing its the first one. Select the whole thing and that should do it.
  25. Well, you got a 800 program for 25 bucks...doesn't sound like a waste of money to me.
