JTernup
Hey guys, I have been working on a logo design for a local soft plastic fishing bait company and here is what I've come up with. I have also been working on a go daddy website (my first time doing that) the link to it is here C&C welcome on both the site and logos. Also for those of you not familiar with fishing, a bag limit is the number of fish that can legally be held in tournaments to be counted towards weight totals. That number is 5 in most tournaments which is what inspired the X going through 5 fish on the secondary and the large X for the primary. The website also uses a slightly different logo which will be changed. suplauren
I'm not really feeling the font, but I like the rest of it. I like that you can make one of those hipster-type X logos that are trendy right now, but it actually fits with the rest of your brand very well. I think my favorite in the set is the red and blue one on the bottom. laurenlogos.tumblr.com
JTernup
Thanks for the comments, I was considering messing with the font a bit as the "A" and "G" kind of bother me. Do you have any suggestions, I definitely think a bold sans serif font is the way to go for this design but don't know if this is the right one for sure. suplauren
Font work is definitely not my strong suit, so I'm not sure about suggestions. Maybe try it in normal case, instead of all caps for the full name logo. If I were in your position I'd probably research similar companies and go with a font that meshes with the overall style of the industry.edit: on second thought, I just did a brief search of other bait companies and most of them look pretty awful. I did like the look of these fonts, maybe something similar to one of these? I liked these ones because they feel a bit more outdoorsy/natural but they aren't too corny. They have a nice modern vintage sort of feel that I think fits with the overall design and would probably go well with the company. laurenlogos.tumblr.com
JTernup
Thanks suplauren I really appreciate the feedback, I agree most bait logos SUCK! I do like some of the fonts you posted and will certainly mess with that. If anyone else has any comments or criticism of the logo and/or font I would like to hear it. BrandMooreArt
i've not worked with GoDaddy before but i've never heard good things about them. would it be possible to use Squarespace or Wordpress? both i think would be better options and i highly recommend squarespacedo you have any pics of the packaging their lures come in? most soft plastics are sort of sandwich baggy like with long horizontal spaces for graphics. i think a word mark that would fit well into that space would work better than a square/rectangle like icon, which you have a thing going with the 5 fish in a row. i would definitely make sure you know where the logo will live and what the most important space is for it (pretty sure it would be product packaging) and design for that. as for color choices, if you have flexibility there i would probably stay away from green, yellow, and red because those colors are used the most often in this market.
