Unifreak
Sure it's a rip-off on the Florida Bobcats and Dallas Mavericks. Sure the uniforms are going to be the last color anyone would have chosen. But I like it.
DEAD!
The last colour that I would put on a jersey is pink! I saw, I came, I left.
Phil
I would choose orange over many colours, including (but not limited to) brown, pink, fuchsia, and lime green. Basically any fluorescent colour and brown. The logo is bad because it lacks depth, originality, and a general sense of inspiration evoked by some of the better sports logos out there. Brian in Boston
And the Houston Rockets' new logo has how much "depth"? How exactly does Houston's new mark manage to "inspire" you? Oh, I'll grant that it's "original"... after all, most teams wouldn't have the unmitigated gall to foist a jumble of figures from a poorly-designed alphanumeric font off as a "logo". The fact of the matter is that you can accuse the Charlotte Bobcats' logo of being a rip-off of the Florida Firecats' primary mark. Guilty as charged! However, despite the fact that it is not exactly going to crack a ton of "Top Ten Logos" lists anytime soon, it still manages to beat out the Rockets' pathetic new mark. I mean, at least it's actually recognizable as a bobcat. Houston's "logo" is supposed to be what exactly? Oh, that's right... a "rocket" taking "flight". Well, why does the "rocket" have that "hump-back" thing going on. Or maybe it's a goiter? Or is it two rockets? Because it sure looks like there are two "vapor trails". Well, we lowly fans shouldn't ask such tough questions of an Academy Award-winning designer. After all, the design is clearly exploring the vertical nature of basketball... or some suck gobbledy-gook double-speak. Let's face it gang: It's awful! Particularly because it makes the Bobcats' boring mark look good by comparison.Brian in Boston
nitroseed
Well, in addition to all that Brian has said, there is a degree of artistic skill that is needed to produce a great logo, and there wasn't very much skill exhibited in the Bobcats' logo. The cat itself is distorted, artistically speaking. You can look at it next to the Firecats logo or the other one... can't remember from where... some women's team... and you'll see that the Bobcats face, mouth, nose, eyes, etc. are all tilted forward too much. It may not be apparent at first glance but if you study it enough, you'll see it.
