Normal golf scoring is based purely on strokes vs. par, while the Stableford system awards points based on the per-hole performance, such as:

Double Eagle: 8 points

Eagle: 5 points

Birdie: 2 points

Par: 0 points

Bogey: -1 point

Double Bogey, or Worse: -3 points

The higher the point total, the better the score.
