jr79
The Womens National Basketball League here in Australia was the trendsetter for years with the ladies wearing bodysuits instead of singlets and shorts but this season they've ditched them in favour of a more old school look No word yet on whether our national team will change as well.Lots of images of the new look here! Your Name Here
Truely, a black day for the civilized world. My theory is that, in sports in which the women's game has been marginalized and dismissed, the players are so concerned with being taken seriously that they want to wear the same thing that the men wear. Look at basketball and soccer. The women mostly wear uniforms identical to men. Those bodysuits have proven advantages over tank tops and shorts. But the players themselves, probably having grown up admiring men who played the sport, want to be the same in every way. But then we look at sports in which the women's game was roughly equal with the men's. Female volleyball players wear lycra bike shorts, sometimes briefs. Female tennis players wear skirts. Why? They're more comfortable and they allow for superior performance. The players aren't concerned with what the men wear or whether they're being ogled. ltravisjr
Austrailia has been somewhat unique with its women's sports fashion. I recall in the olympics their softball players wore tank top jerseys for some of their games. They looked nice...and so did the jerseys.LT
