it never takes long for osu fans to speak up does it?

granted this game was painful to watch in the second half (the secondary has always been suspect but DAM), but i was pretty hopeful in the first. thought they could turn it around and get something goin, but no. i get to watch a horrible secondary practically give up on the game after they got down a little bit, making usc already great recievers look even better and a good qb look amazing. that was great. aaaaaand the wolverines go out and get crushed after all that talk about how they were the #2 team and they were robbed. pitiful if you ask me. if you're gonna talk about how much of a better team you are than someone else you have got to prove it on the field. michigan just didn't get it done. but posers and frauds? lets be real. the only reason you didn't see michigan in the national title game was because the voters didn't want to see michigan in the title game. you can argue it all you want, but if you listen to what has been said, that's all it was. and sure, after this game you can say they didn't deserve it and you can say they wouldn't have given osu a good game the second time around, but i could counter that this game didn't really mean anything so i can't really blame the wolverines (secondary, offense, playcalling, just about all of them) for what looked like quitting. there's no excuse for what happened last night. usc just wanted it more. and somebody said the only way for michigan to win is to play at home? brady quinn just called. he says he'd like to have his heisman because he wasn't smacked around in south bend. no, that game never happened.

seriously people. playoffs?

And it never takes long for the Michigan fans and apologists to start with making excuses for yet another disappointing season. Since when is the freaking ROSE BOWL a meaningless game to a Big 10 or PAC-10 team? I think it's time Michigan people faced the truth about the Wolverines. They get outcoached and outplayed EVERY time there is something on the line.

I'll admit that as a Buckeye fan I like to run a little smack to get under the skin of Wolverine fans. I probably overstate my case in the process but the reality is that for the last three years Michigan has lost the Ohio State game and their bowl game. That's not opinion that's cold hard fact. Instead of offering my opinion of why that always seems to happen to Michigan I'll shut up and nicely ask Wolverine fans and apologists what they might think the problem is.

So here is my question for Michigan fans and supporters; Why do YOU think Michigan has been unable to get it done against Ohio State four of the last five years and why haven't they won a bowl game in four years? Clearly every opinion outside your own is wrong so please enlighten those of us who haven't drank the Maize and Blue Kool-Aid.

I like to think of myself as open-minded so I would love to entertain another theory on what exactly Michigan's problem might be. It's obviously not that they're overrated or that they lose to better teams so what is it then?

Oops, I made a boo-boo when I was trying to be sarcastic, gents. Correction, "Besides, the game was played in USC's HOME city." Better?

You know the rules...if you try to be sarcastic, use a damn smiley like so <_<

You should know better than to try to inject humor or wit in such a solemn place. Believe me. I learned my lesson recently over in the lounge. :D

in case you haven't noticed, I am not a fan of any bcs bowl. there's not title on the line, there's no anything on the line. to me, the game is meaningless. you play for pride when you're 2-10, not vice versa. and as far as your outcoached and outplayed line is concerned, refer back to my crack at brady quinn.

like i said though, there are no excusees. michigan was outplayed, outcoached, and above all, out-desired.

usc just wanted it more and played like it.

to answer your question. four out of five...simply, and i hate to say it but, tressell. he's a great coach who always has the bucks prepared for the game. carr doesn't have an answer for him. simple as that. as far as bowl games are concerned i'd have the same answer. it would seem that recently lloyd carr has just lost the will and it carries over to the team.

irst of all this season is unfulfilled, not disappointing.

Ask any Michigan fan or alum if losing to Ohio State then losing the bowl game is simply a "season unfulfilled."

And sorry but The Rose Bowl is hardly a meaningless game.

Michigan is "team potential" every year and every year they fall flat. You're exactly right. Tressel outcoaches Carr and so does anyone else whose program is as good as, and has at least the same talent level as Michigan's. Notre Dame just doesn't have the talent to go toe to toe with The Michigans and USCs of the world as we'll see yet again tonight when LSU dismantles them. You give Charlie Weiss Michigan's talent and it's Notre Dame and OSU in Glendale. And Notre Dame is going for title number two in a row.

My biggest fear as an Ohio State fan is that Michigan fires Lloyd Carr and replaces him with a guy who can coach. Lloyd is just John Cooper all over again. Good recruiter, lousy coach. Lloyd won his national title with Gary Moeller's team.

yeah...i realized that when i put it up. which is why it got edited out.

you're quick.

but michigan won't fire carr, he'll have to retire. which is too bad. i say when you've lost it, admit it and let everyone else move on with their lives. remember the good times. and ride off into the sunset or stay on as an advisor or something. but sadly, it won't happen. teams in michigan are sentimental. that's why millen is coming back next year (as of now).

Well, they did ONLY lose by 14...and they WERE tied at 3-3 at the half. Besides, the game was played on USC's HOME field.

Michigan STILL deserves a chance to play for the BCS National Championship because this game didn't really count.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008
