Oddly enough I looked this up today without prompting from this thread: technically they were known as the "Philadelphia-Pittsburgh Eagles" on internal league documents, but were listed on game programs as the "Eagles-Steelers" or "Steelers-Eagles," depending on where the game was being held. "Steagles" was obviously an informal designation, though "Phil-Pitt" (and the following year, "Card-Pitt," for what was officially the "Chicago-Pittsburgh Football Club") have been listed in the NFL's public records ever since.
