Washington Nationals Alternate

Well, here is a concept for the Washington Nationals. I haven't done a baseball concept in about a year, so it is always fun to go back. Since I've gotten better at drawing, I think that I will be posting some more baseball related stuff in the future. First thing's first, this alternate is blue as opposed to the current red. I don't hate the red, but there are several aspects of that uniform that I dislike. I know the Nats use red more than blue, as seen in these wordmarks.

The Nats, at least I've seen, have used these two wordmarks...

more than these two wordmarks:

Now you notice that the top two, more used wordmarks contain more red than the two less used wordmarks which contain more blue. It's obvious that the Nats have chosen to use red more than blue, but I feel that this alternate opens up a whole 'nother realm for them.

I kept the uniforms fairly simple: The crap beveling on the numbers and DC logo (I will elude to the DC logo more later) is gone and the sleeves are bare. Now this is one of the elements I hate about the Nats' current alternate. That damn DC is everywhere. Yes, we get it, you are from DC, enough with the logo. Less is more in that case, but they have failed to realize that. I did realize that though here, however. No sleeve patch, the sleeves are bare. I did not want a Curly W or a DC on the sleeves when it is already on the cap and chest because I do not like it when a team has the same logo on their cap as their sleeve patch. I can live with two, though I am not a fan, but when you have cap, sleeve, and chest logo, that is just too damn many. 3 DC logos? Are you kidding me? What I did here was put the Curly W on the left breast and left the DC on the cap, though i modified it. As said before the beveling is gone (on numbers and cap logo) so the DC is now white trimmed in red. The numbers are red trimmed in white, and while I did try white numbers trimmed in red, it just didn't look right. I guess the only aspect I kept from the Nats' current alts is the number color is opposite of the jersey color (blue/red on their alt, red/blue on mine.) Names are red, trimmed in white, piping is white, pants piping is blue/red/blue (the opposite of the pants on the current alt.) and socks are blue. Of course caps are blue. C & C as usual, thanks.

Actually you're half right on both the wordmarks. 'Nationals' does appear in red on the home uniforms, however 'Washington' appears in navy on the aways. On the concept, I just don't really think the 2 seperate monogram logos go well together. Should always be one or the other.

Well, I stand corrected. I don't know, in my previous post I said that I could live with two of the same logos on a uniform, but I don't particularly like it. I thought that putting a DC on the chest would make these too much like the red alternates. One of my other reasoning for two logos was that the Indians do it and aren't bad, so I figured why not with the Nats.
