the_cynic
With Karl Malone having missed 26 games this season due to injury and isn't expect back until mid March, do you think he still has a shot at breaking the scoring title of 38,387 point in his NBA career? Consider this, so far he's only scored 336 point this season with an average of 14 ppg. If he comes back in mid March and is lucky enough to average his 14 ppg and play the remaining 15 games from that point on he will have scored a total of 546 points this season, putting him just 1467 points shy of the record. That means he would have to average 17.8 ppg next season for 82 games or 8.9 for two more years at 164 games. STL FANATIC
Actually on the contrary I think Jordans record is better then what Kareem and Malone did. That's true, the other two have longetivity over Jordan for various reasons, but Jordan dominated almost everygame he played in. habsfannova
Kinda like comparing Gretzky to Orr.
NJTank
Gretzky is so far ahead of everyone he is untochable Orr is the best defenseman but Gretzky hold the points scored record by nearly 1,000 over Messier who is now second. The best example of something similar is in the NFL with Jim Brown look at how many yards he rushed for in much fewer games then the runningt backs ahead of him. Brown held the record until 1984, and he is now moving down the list, but in terms of yards per game Brown is ahead by mile of all of them. When he played there was only 12 games per year, and he only played like 9 seasons. So you can imagine how many yards he would have iof he played today and as long as Emmitt Smith. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
the_cynic
But do you think Jordan could have really held down a 30 ppg for 20 consecutive seasons? the_cynic
I still think by him coming back a second time and to of all teams the Wizards, I just don't see how many people will look at him as the same. Jordan was great but I think the door is wide open for someone to surpass him in the future. LeBron could very well do it too! You just know that LeBron is on his way to many championship trophy's. STL FANATIC
Teamwise, Jordan may have embarrased himself, though I doubt it, but his personal stats were still great. JUSTIN STRIEBEL | PORTFOLIO | RESUME | CONTACT
NJTank
The Wizards were in contession with Jordan look at them this year without him. NJTank
I dont know if he is close it will be awful tempting, any way the Lakers are not looking so good, their deals have not worked as well as planned. Of course coem playoff time it could all turn around but it looks like the fued between Shaq, and Kobe is starting to take a toll. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
