TruColor
I should mention that my estimates on the SSUR are taken from Marc Okkonen's book, and other sources (Todd Radom, for one). There's always the possibility that there could be mistakes. Arts11
I remember when I was really little and watched Yankees games on TV, I thought their pinstripes and caps were black. It wasn't until I got a replica jersey/cap that I saw it was just a really dark blue. I think a lot of the color misconception has to do w/ a mix of old-time, inferior TV color quality and a general lack of attention to detail for these rather nuances by a great deal of fans. oddball
Throw my two cents into this. One thing that I doubt most people do is adjust the settings on the tvs. I don't know how many times you walk into a Best Buy or where ever and you see 52 tvs all with the same program, yet 52 different tint and shades of color and it's the same thing. So I can see how people would see the Yankees as black.
TruColor
Keep in mind that this is the fabric/textile color that the Yankees use:It's pretty dark...almost (but not quite) Black.
CC97
Watching the White Sox take on the Yankees last night you can clearly see a difference in the colours. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram

islandog68
If you look at the White Sox home jersey and compare it to the Yankees home jersey it is clear that the pinstripes are navy.
TheOldRoman
Gothamite-Thanks for the info. My next question to everyone is, if the Yankees did indeed wear black at some point, when did they switch to navy? Did they do it before the Ruth era?
