Block S in college sports

Being from Michigan, I'd have to say I think of Michigan State when I see the block "S".

I have never liked that block "S". The Spartan is far more recognizeable.

The first college acceptance letter I got in the mail (many, many years ago) was from Michigan State. It said, "Congratulations, you are a Spartan."

I ended up getting my degree from Michigan.

Don't forget about the Stetson logo.

It's Michigan State...with a cowboy hat on it?

Danimal, I agree. But that would be too obvious. If we were talking about print ready artwork in black and white, my opinion would be based on the style.

If it were simply a block "S" with no outline, I think of Michigan State. If the block "S" were to have a white outline and a thin black outline, I would think Stanford (tree or no tree).

Maybe I'm showing my age, but the NSC diamond looking logo is what I think of when mentioning NC State.

The "Cuse? I don't associate at all with a block "S". That Nike basketball logo is what comes to mind first.

And Penn State? Plain white helmet with a navy stripe down the middle. Actually, I think more about this one: http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?id=1k9prruij590izix314f
