NBA Logo Origin

The NBA logo is brilliant, just perfect ... why change it!

You know it's great by how often it is ripped off by some other "sport"!

Well... it's not like the NBA invented the "white silhouetted player against a blue/red background" school of logo design.

Quite the opposite: the NBA deliberately copied Major League Baseball's logo design to visually link its sport with the National Pastime.

No they didn't invent it, but I think their logo ended up being a little bit better.

The guy in the MLB logo looks like he's about to take a ball to the head. It always seemed odd looking to me. The ball seemed out of place...like the designer knew that a ball should be in the logo but didn't know where to put it. Don't get me wrong, its an amazing an easily recognizable logo...one of the best out there, but I think the NBA logo seems to have more balance and seems more natural.

I hope they don't "modernize" it. It works fine the way it is IMO.
