Just an update now and then when a pitcher is in trouble, it's good to know balls/strikes/pitches. Of course, Red Sox fans are the smartest fans in baseball and cannot be denied important information like this, so they can know how well the Red Sox are doing at fouling off pitches for four hours. And once upon a time people didn't think they needed to know the score at all times.
