sacker12
I've always made my ring drawings in Photoshop. I would just take a drawing from Balfour's site or any image that I find on Google, and just change text, logos, or whatever in Photoshop.

oddball
What kind of tips are you looking for? Learning the pen tool would be where I would start. Just start tracing simple images and grow from there. I realize that's not a quick tutorial, but that's the best way to do it.
neptuneniq
mostly need help with the warping the fonts on the ring and getting the right gradients
oddball
Do your type, go to Object then Expand in the Object drop down menu. Just click okay on the menu that pops up. Next go to the Object drop down menu and look for Envelope Distort, and that's where you're going to find the things you need to warp the fonts. The thing is once you expand the type, you can fix a spelling mistake as it's an object and not type anymore. As far as the gradients go, which version of Illustrator are you using? They've changed them so I have both Illustrator 10 and CS4 and they are slightly different, but the key is just to play with them to your liking.
