Viper
Yes, it's that time of year again... time for the annual ritual of franchise attrition that is the National Lacrosse League offseason. This year's casualties: The Orlando Titans, who just moved from New York last year and appeared to be taking reasonably well to their new home market, but had one of their principal owners bail on them and were unable to find a replacement in a timely manner. A dispersal draft is planned for next week, reducing the NLL from 11 to 10 teams. As a side note, the Titans going under continues one of the most obscure, yet strangest "curses" in sports. For the past four NLL seasons, the visiting team for the Minnesota Swarm's final regular-season home game has either folded or moved the following season (Arizona in '07, Chicago in '08, New York in '09, and now Orlando in '10).The Titans say they'll be back after taking the 2011 season off. We've heard that line before.
